Hayes wins the Gold Glove.
Ballot is open for Reds HOF. I voted for Brandon Phillips and Francisco Cordero. Can only vote for 2 each day. Can vote once daily.
Phillips aka DatDudeDP

If I had to pick two those are the ones I’d go with.
what could have been w Bailey. Gifted but terrible genetics.
These are the Reds free agents. There are a couple I think the Reds should try to retain with Pagan at the top of the list.
3B/OF Miguel Andujar
RP Scott Barlow
OF Austin Hays
SP Zack Littell
SP Wade Miley
SP Nick Martinez
RP Emilio Pagán
RP Brent Suter
Reds need an impact bat or two. Krall has said that. Here is the list of every free agent by position. Who are the impact bats on this list, that the Reds have a legitimate shot to land (meaning cross of Schwarber, Reds aren’t spending that kind of money)? Looking at FA only. Obviously needs can be filled by trade as well, but at a cost. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-free-agents-2025-2026?partnerId=it-20251117-15715327-mlb-1-A&utm_id=it-20251117-15715327-mlb-1-A&lctg=11579864
I wanted Naylor but the Mariners got that dream crushed quickly
If they can’t afford Schwarber they likely can’t afford any of the real impact bats there.
Trade Singer or Lodolo, sign Schwarber and a good RP (or get one back in a trade). Defer most of Schwarber’s contract.
If they can’t handle a payroll of $130 million when you’ve got a playoff-ready pitching rotation, then just shut it all down.
Krall basically already said they aren’t going after Schwarber. Too much money.
Singer would be an ideal one to move. He’s estimated to get $11-13 million in arbitration. You may get a mid range prospect with some upside or a bullpen arm in return.
Yeah, he’s only got 1 year before free agency but $12m for a 29 year old with a proven track record who should bring you around 3 WAR is a super team friendly contract.
Singer was sorely needed this past season. But now with Burns’ arrival, the return of Lowder, Williamson, Spiers, and Aguiar from injury, and Petty and Franco at AAA, Singer is a luxury and his $12m can be used better elsewhere.
Yeah, I think Singer or Lodolo should be traded. I think their value is higher than a mid-level. I think Singer gets a prospect in the 100 range, and Lodolo goes higher. With that said, I hope they prioritize MLB ready relief pitchers rather than prospects. Or a bat. I said it at the end of this year and still believe this team can’t compete without adding an impact bat. If they are incapable of doing that, then they should sell the team. The team has about $45 M* coming off the books, more if they trade a SP. I don’t know how much will be taken away by increase with arbitration raises, but it should still leave money for a bat.
*Edit: $39 Million right now, $45 million if the team trades/ non-tenders Gavin Lux as is expected. If they trade Singer, that goes up to $57 million. There’s money available to get a bat if the team is willing. If I were in charge, I trade Singer for an above average reliever, and use the $57 for a bat, another reliever, and some depth, keeping Andujar for around $3M for one.
With Singer only having one year of control getting a top 100 prospect in return may be a stretch. Merrill Kelly was traded at the deadline with similar numbers and going into free agency. Arizona got a return of three prospects within the Rangers top 15 but none in the overall top 100.
Flipping Singer for a reliver with a few years of control would fill an immediate need and free up payroll.
I think around 100, probably in the 100-115 range. Or they could get multiple lower level guys like the Snakes did. But yeah, I’m with you, try to get a good reliever in return. Reports are that ten teams have already been in contact with Pagan so we may need multiple guys this offseason.
Just came out that Elly played a lot of the season with a partially torn quad. He was electric for the first few months, and then fell apart. Here’s to hoping he plays next year fully healthy and is the player from the beginning of the season rather than the latter part.
Positive regression could really help this team. McLain was coming off a major shoulder injury, was batting .160 after 6 weeks, ended up at .220. I assume he will be, at worst, a .250 hitter next year without the horrid beginning stretch and another year of recovery. A full season of Sal Stewart, who looked like our best hitter toward the end of the season, as well as another year of (hopefully) progression by Marte could bode well for the Reds’ offense. I still want that middle of the order bat acquired though.
Cincinnati added shortstop Edwin Arroyo (its [No. 8 prospect], outfielder Héctor Rodríguez ([No. 9], and infielder Leonardo Balcazar ([No. 23] to the 40 man roster. Carson Spiers, DFA.
I don’t know the budget shopping the Reds have in mind but an impact bat has to be near the top of the list, and I just don’t see the Reds going after the Alonso’s, Bellinger’s, and Schwarber’s of the world. However one name that intrigues me, again, not knowing his cost or if the Reds would have the finances for him, is Eugenio Suarez. Bring him in to DH. And an emergency 3B or to very occasionally spell Hayes. The other player I wouldn’t mind seeing the Reds look at is Harrison Bader who is coming off a career year offensively and defensively he is outstanding. Just a couple of names to throw out that might be in the Reds budget ballpark.
