Reds resigning Emilio Pagan 2 years, 20 million with a one year opt out.
That’s a start. Needed multiple relievers.
Or just have Santillan pitch 150 innings!
I’ll just put this here: Pete Alonso to the O’s for 5 year, 155M deal.
Meanwhile, the Reds are looking to bring back Terry Crowley.
I posted before I wouldn’t mind the Reds exploring bringing back Eugenio Suarez as a DH and part time fill in at 3B and 1B. Others on my radar are Bellinger and Bichette. I would add Bregman but I am not sure he wants to play anywhere besides 3B. Bellinger and Bichette are also low strikeout guys, which is a plus.
With the signing of Eugenio Suarez, this is what the Reds lineup could look like. I like this, as far as what the Reds have to work with. Batting order:
- TJ Friedl, CF
- Noelvi Marte, RF
- Elly De La Cruz, SS
- Eugenio Suárez, DH
- Spencer Steer, LF
- Sal Stewart, 1B
- Tyler Stephenson, C
- Matt McLain, 2B
- Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B
McLain just HAS to have a better year. If he can get to what he was two years ago, the Reds could easily win the division with this lineup plus starting pitching
If he doesn’t produce early, then the Reds need to make a change.
With Friedl, Elly, Suarez, Stephenson and Hayes you pretty much know what you’re going to get for production. The rest of the lineup has to play to their potential/prove they belong.
That was my exact thought when I saw this lineup. I’m generally an optimist, and shoulder surgeries take a bit of time to heal. I am not giving up on Mclain yet. I think he ends up in the middle stats wise this year between his rookie year and his last year stats.
I’m very excited about the lineup this season. My prediction is that Sal Stewart will have a breakout rookie season!
I hope we can build on last year. Would like to see us step up and contend for the division.
Gonna be without Greene for the first 2 months likely; good thing their rotation is deep.
