Jack Gohlke played 5 years at D2 Hillsdale before transferring to Oakland. In his third year at Hillsdale, he only played 6 minutes per game. Some guys just take time to develop. Wonder if Miami recruited him last year?
Looking at the best shooters in D2 this year. An interesting name is Kobe Mitchell at Walsh in Canton. Started his career at Akron for two years and didn’t play much. Went to Walsh and made 95 threes at a 42.4% rate. Walsh actually beat Oakland in an exhibition this year and Mitchell had 32 points. Wonder if he will try to transfer back to D1 or stay at Walsh?

Holy Moses if we had him and our awesome frosh 7 footer, we’d have a totally different feel. And, (most important) there would be three seven footers in Oxford counting our assistant coach. That would have to be rare air.
Ps. I know guy is 6’10” but in shoes he’s 7

Speaking of Jack Gohelke, Colo. State had a transfer in this year—Patrick Cartier, a 6-8 Forward who also played a few years at Hillsdale College in Mich. During the CSU- Texas NCAA game, one the astute announcers mentioned that Cartier had played previously at Hillside College. So much for that.

Still hate the portal. College basketball or football for that matter will never be the same.

I’m waiting for the day when a coaching staff stops recruiting and signing high school kids and simply completes or restocks their roster using the portal.

Miami recruited Cartier pretty heavily out of the portal. I think he would’ve taken us into the upper tier of the MAC.
Sounds like Steele and Co. need to be “recruiting” Hillsdale College, in addition to GCL schools and Cincinnati, Dayton, and Indianapolis public schools.
