Well we were the #2 ranked defense in the MAC last season. So it’s not like the defense was bad. If we had predicted major staff changes after the bowl game, I would have bet on the offensive side of the ball.
IIRC, Chuck was calling the defense last season. I think the coaches coming in are an upgrade for each position. Historically, he’s taken over whichever unit performed the worst the season before so I’m curious if he was hoping to put the defense in better hands. I believe the defensive players have said they’re learning a new scheme this year in the post-practice interviews.

Chuck definitely called the defense last year, and possibly going back to 2019. I think that was a major reason why one of our co-coordinators went to OU (lateral move).
There certainly are a lot of new faces on staff, but I’m starting to believe Miami has become a stable place where both upcoming coaches and older P5 ones needing a landing spot want to be.

Sterling makes no sense. The others were 50/50 imo
Looking at the transaction list, there were a lot of very good football players cut today. There will be a good many signed to practice squads in the next few days by the teams that cut them and teams that see possibilities.
I am curious as to why you say that. Because he made a lot of tackles in pre season games or were the Indy reports that he was doing well.
Preseason games seem to be absolutely meaningless nowadays

It seemed like they were very high on him. Not in a unnatural, I’m too high I can’t feel my legs way, but more the mellow ditch weed kind of way. Does that help?

Every Colts tweet/article/insider seems to be upset with Sterling Weatherford not making the roster. Not sure what else he could have done.

I believe when someone is cut from the 53 man roster, all other teams get a chance to claim them before the original team can add them back to their Practice Squad.

Correct. I think the colts were crossing their fingers that they’d be able to stash Weatherford on their practice squad. Instead, the bears picked him up. What I’m unsure of is if he’ll get placed on the 53? Or if he’ll just end up on the bears PS
