Given Miami of Florida’s recent attendance struggles, I’m surprised that they’re only giving you $30 to attend.
They are not giving us $30 to attend. I am giving them $33. lol
And since I haven’t posted on this, we have a group of 5 sitting at the game, but coming on 3 different plans. My buddy Jim T got the two of us comped rooms for 3 nights at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. I am paying for a rental car. It looks like we are pretty close to both the Ft. Lauderdale Airport where we are flying in and out of and to the Hard Rock Stadium. I probably will not gamble there, unless they have a sports book as there are plenty of college football games Thursday night and all day Saturday while we will be there. Someone else has the tickets on their phone, so I am not sure what section we are in.
They don’t have a sportsbook, I’m sad to inform you.
Hey Dick I know a guy down there. He can take your bets! Comes with his own consigliere!
What I was really hoping for at the casino was a sports book with a great TV setup. Maybe they have a sportsbar.
For those heading down to the game:
@JiveHawk, @Spanks004, @Hoosierhawk and many of us will be tailgating/pre-gaming from about noon until 6pm at a house appx. 25 minutes from Hard Rock Stadium in the Westchester neighborhood of Miami.
We will be grilling, have a ton of drinks, and even a pool people can hang in. Plus, I’m even working on mass transportation options from the house to Hard Rock Stadium for those who are worried about that.
Let me know if you want to come by so we can plan supplies accordingly.
I plan to attend with my younger son- flying in from Boise - let me know details/ thanks
Have fun at the game and be careful. I had two different groups of friends go to the Notre Dame/UM game a few years ago, and both said the UM fans were absolutely horrible towards them.
Officially game week!
The game notes should be released within the next day or so.
A few overall thoughts on this match up:
Miami of Florida should be much better in year 2 under Cristobal. He’s likely weeded out much of the cancer from the previous staff and continued to build his culture. Miami did replace both coordinators after year 1, which is interesting. Lance Guidry is the new DC and we all know he’s a helluva coach. The new OC came from Houston and obviously fits the spread concepts that Cristobal likes to run.
Their QB, Tyler Van Dyke, is a holdover from the previous staff. He’s definitely more of a pocket passer, so we don’t have to worry about him beating us with his feet. His 2021 season was very good under the previous staff, but struggled in year 1 with Cristobal. I think most canes fans are anxious to see which version shows up in 2023.
This obviously isn’t the hurricanes of the early 2000’s, but Miami always has 5 or so guys that will be draft picks. They’re going to have the advantage at almost every skill position besides QB. It’ll be a tough test for our youth/inexperience on the outside. I’ll be curious to see how our DB’s hold up against their athletes at WR.
Not sure what to expect from our offense. Feels like they’re going to put more in the hands of Gabbert this year. Guessing that means more audibles, maybe even some faster pace at times. Running the ball effectively would help. Guidry is likely going to be sending pressure to test our reshaped line.
I think our best chance is to win the battle up front. Our defensive front 7 is the strength of this football team. Control the run game and try to make Van Dyke beat you throwing the ball. Hopefully our pass rush can get home a few times.
Looking forward to next Friday.
I got an email from the guy with the tickets and we are in 126.
Count me + 1 in!
We’ll likely be on the latter half of the time, gotta get some beach time in!
Happy to pitch in some $$ as well.
Anyone know what Miami is paying us for this game? Or where to find this info for other games too?
We’re getting $1.5 million for the Miami game.
Keep an eye on Invest 93L, boys!
I don’t know what their overall athletic department finances are, but I’m having difficulty understanding how a school with attendance like this can do buy games the way a Michigan or OSU do.
The money is at 9:48 in coach Martin’s interview. This is vintage Charlie Coles. This is gonna be a great game.
Game Notes are posted!
