What the actual fuck? Kent state in over us?!? Or did we decline?
Screw that. We better have declined it. Otherwise there is no friggin reason to take Kent over Miami.
Youād think they would at least look at head to head records
That is fucking criminal
If we were right next to each other on the NIT bubble, in the same conference, they wouldnāt look at our head to head???
When does the CBC announce their field? Is it possible that we got an invite there instead?
Further proof āthe expertsā donāt watch the MAC and just look at NET
Unless I missed someone when doing a quick eyeballing, here are the bottom NET teams. Really fucked us
Jacksonville St 122
Furman 127
Kent State 128
Wichita 134
UC Riverside 142
We were sitting at 147.
Apparent UC riverside is in both the CBI and NIT?
God, I hope the band stays together. Go full-on scorched-earth mode starting this summer and all of the way through next spring.
Really starting to hate the whole organization of college sports. Donāt even feel like making a bracket this year.
I feel the same way 75. This is such BS.
After looking at Kentās schedule, Iām now further confused as to how they were ranked so much higher. Their best OOC win was Cleveland State or maybe Kennesaw? They played at Auburn and Alabama (got ran out of gym both times). Did that SOS boost make all the difference??? They lost at home to Ball State for fucks sakeā¦
EDIT: their best OOC win is Arkansas State in the Sun Belt challenge. They lost 2 of 3 to Troy this year, including in the Sun Belt finalā¦
Getting killed by Auburn and Alabama is literally why. Its stupid.
In that case, we should have just scheduled a road game against the Celtics.
=>It was the 4 point win over Heidelberg that impressed.
Sometimes I think the āhead to headā is overrated but we won 3 times and had a 3 game lead in the conference standings and they didnt have anything as impressive as beating Troy in the non conference
It is utterly ridiculous
I am not sure which is dumber - the net ranking or the NiT selection
They won @ Cleveland St (174), neutral vs Towson (151), neutral vs Kennesaw St (137), and home vs Arkansas St (94). Their only OOC losses were @ Auburn (3), neutral vs UC Irvine (62), and @ Alabama (6).
Our only OOC wins of note were @ App St (170) and home vs Troy (99). Home vs Wright St (220) and @ Vermont (232) are both bad losses.
Thatās the reason for the computer rankings difference, but selections are made by humans. They should have someone to point out the 3 game gap in the standings, the 3-0 head to head record, and the better tournament performance.
Non D1 games donāt get factored into the NET or Kenpom rankings.
You are giving the NIT committee too much credit if you think they even looked at the MAC standings or good wins and bad losses for their filler teams. They called all the big conference teams they could and once they were out of options, Iām sure they just pulled up the NET rankings and went down the list picking a team from each smaller conference until they were full. They hit Kent St before they hit Miami in the rankings.
I donāt think anyone needs to overthink what the NIT committee liked or didnāt like other than smaller rank number = good!
