Great point! Wright State’s guard transferred last year to Ohio Stae, got less PT, transferred back to Wright State.

The grass sure looks greener from afar

I have a BB name for you: Marcus Domask. Different story for him than the Wright guard.

In this analogy, does that mean the players who return to their original teams from the portal have to spend the entire rest of eternity in Bruges?

Remembering the shitshow when DeAndre Yedlin got bought by Tottenham. Tottenham reached out to the University of Akron to pay the youth solidarity fee and their athletic department was like “what the hell are you talking about?”. Then the youth club team that his family had to pay an exorbitant fee to play for filed a lawsuit to try to get paid the solidarity fee themselves.

True. But 72% are getting fewer snaps. Wondering how those stats work

So they go from G5 starter to P5 starter and play less

Yes, also saw a local article about UNC making offer to Rashid…UNC is expecting their starting back to return and Amos is seen as a bruising runner who can complement him, etc… Sorta speaks to the stats above on many G5 players may ending up w less playing time.

Still, it would obviously be exciting playing in front of large appreciative crowds at UNC, and other ACC venues.

Yes but presumably Amos has NFL aspirations so I have to imagine less PT and being the complimentary back doesn’t exactly advance that.

You can’t make fun of people who still believe in Santa Claus, when some of these guys still think they will be NFL players

Nothing will beat Nike Sibande declaring after his sophomore year.

I know at this point it is all guesswork, but On3 has Marshall as the leading choice for Gage. If so, interesting choice by him-what would he really gain by transferring to Marshall?

Would it make sense for some ( all?) on this site to communicate with Gage, Amos , Wolluard to make sure they saw the Matt Williams story, know what happened Zollman at Minn, stress to them the benefits of coming back next year to a very strong team, and tell them how much they are appreciated at Miami? For example I assume Gage and Amos would like a shot at the NFL- playing with Brett will give Gage another opportunity for big numbers and Amos playing in CM’s offense also a great opportunity for big numbers. Does rationale thinking have a chance here? Who is best to communicate with these individuals?

Just read about him. No different than Grant Basile, who also transferred from Wright State as a grad transfer, after the 2021-22 season and played for Virginia Tech. He lit up Duke last year. Now playing in the Italian league

Lol.

NFL money better than NIL money - short term and irrational thinking continues to surface on Portal issues as evidenced by Idiot’s post.

Here’s what I don’t get: the taxation rate the NIL money gets. Let’s say you get 100k. (Assuming it’s all there when you go to collect it and not some “you didn’t start or get enough snaps scam”…anyhow, if you got all of it, is it 40% taxed? If so, would you throw everything away for 60k? Knowing you might not get a camp invite and could be buried on a depth chart…

Ah yes, Miami’s long history putting running backs and wide receivers into the NFL for long lucrative careers is not worth the $60k net* elsewhere for at least one year of work that had been previously done for $0k net.

*Im not an accountant but do people really get taxed at 40% in the $100k tax bracket???

In my opinion, it sucks that they might be leaving. Thought 2024 had real CFP potential if everyone came back. But I wont be mad at someone going to the B1G or B12. Even if its their 2nd 3rd or 4th transfer. Go where you think youre going to be happy. Hopefully you enjoyed your time in Oxford enough to consider coming back. But if they want something different, I’ll root for them from afar.

Guy, I’m a pornographer. I don’t claim to know finance. Most of my movies lose money because I spend too much on special effects. All I was asking is if it was worth the life disruption and prospect of not being drafted. 60k felt like a lot of money in 1983. It feels like a lot less in 2023. I simply want to know what the net get is.

Ps, how do the D1 QB’s who transferred feel watching the D2 QB win for the Bears this year. I’ll answer that for $200: shitty!

I cant imagine Gage would end up at Marshall but that one surprised me less than Amos

Did you see the offense we ran from Toledo game one until the end of the year? Hopefully it will be different with Brett back but Coach Martin is very comfortable running that style of offense which isn’t conducive to WR catches

Looking at the roster this morning it seems to me we might have 17 guys leaving who were on the team in 2023 - depending on what happens in the pending charges of one player in Oxford. That includes transfers, age outs, and I’m dones. Others sill probably follow these 17.

A dozen on the current list were significant contributors in ‘23.

Domask was my favorite MVC player of the last few years. Steady as the come.
