With the influx of donor support for the roster and the general momentum within the athletic department, I would have to think the ol Chuckster is treading on thinner ice around here than he used to. Continuing to poor mouth with a $10m roster and laying giant eggs in the nonconference wouldn’t be a great recipe for another extension.

If CM cannot say anything positive about the team he should keep his mouth shut. Our AD needs to have a serious talk with him - his comments go beyond sandbagging. BTW I hope CM notes the UMass win over Rutgers yesterday-something we could not do last year!

I agree 10000000 %. Chuckles NEVER has his team ready Game 1. And I am a CM fan overall EXCEPT his dismal OOC record.

Pitt isn’t OSU and Army isn’t even Pitt. But Chuck fellated Army so deeply in the 2021 game week press conference that the Army players we met at a bar in West Point that night were openly laughing about it.
The result? A non-competitive loss to an Army team that lost to Ball State a week later.

Im a former Army football player from back when dinosaurs roamed the plain and I was at that game. I was concerned about that Miami team (Im from Ohio originally so I knew about Miami) and we were a 9-4 team that year, overlooked Ball State to play Wisconsin the following week, but that Miami game was a pure option win. Kept the Miami O off the field. We had 0 passing yards and 386 yards of rushing offense, Miami had 28 rushing yards and Army had almost double the time of position at almost 40 minutes to Miamis 20. Classic Army win. But I do remember Chuck glazing Army, which to be honest most coaches do when they bring their teams to play at West Point.

Chuck’s glazing was so notably over the top that the players on the team showed us that his press conference had been shared amongst the team.
They also confided in us that Jeff Monken’s pregame message to the team was “I’m not losing that fucking guy” (referring to Chuck)

What bars are we going to be at in the Pitt area tonight?
If you are 30ish or younger, get an Uber to the South Side and East Carson Street. At one time it had the most liquor licensees within a 20 block radius of anywhere in the United States. Bars everywhere.
If you are older than that, Lawrenceville/Butler Street is the “late 20s early 30s hipster but also reasonably successful” locale. It’s an uber if you are staying downtown or on the North Shore, but worth it if you are in that demographic.
If you snagged a hotel room on the North Shore (near the stadiums) and don’t want to venture out, you have chain places like Tom’s, Tequila Cowboy and Jason Aldeens, but also Southern Tier (if you like their beer, the food is solid), and Pins and Pints if you can grab one of their duckpin lanes. You could also walk or try to grab a bike taxi over to the casino if that’s your thing.
If you are downtown, Market Square has multiple options. City Works is fine (lots of beer, food serviceable), and there is a Primanti’s if you need to check that box. If you are in the Cultural District Redbeards is a quintessential yinzer sports bar with solid food, and if you can snag a bar stool Butcher & Rye - do it. Also, like I said earlier, Gaucho on 6th and Penn is well worth it if you can get in for dinner.
Man I miss Pittsburgh. My time in Grad school at Pitt was awesome. Carson St was the best. Compared to undergrad at West Point it was heaven doing grad school at Pitt. Great city, I cant wait for the game tomorrow.

I don’t understand CM. Don’t be so damn pessimistic. We can absolutely beat Pitt. I don’t see how this attitude instills confidence in your players. Win a damn OOC game. Do what Steele did with basketball; you have ample resources.
