That defensive front is really light….. I’m sure they’re quick but giving up 50-60 pounds a man is going to wear

Pitt is currently a member of the ACC, a conference that scuttlebutt has it Miami will seek to join the next time the conference dance card opens up for a change in membership.
What better way to show that Miami belongs than to take down the Panthers and make their case on the field.

In scanning the 2 Deep it hit me how different this roster is than last year’s - and especially from the ‘24 roster. Seems like we’re into a pattern of almost complete turnover every two seasons. The era of four/five year career players seems to be over. It’s going to take a few games just to get a handle on who we’re even watching.

What Miami lacks in size on the DL is somewhat mitigated by our depth on the DL. Chuck will definitely be rotating a lot of D linemen in and out throughout the game. Hopefully (wishful thinking, I know), the offense can give them a break by staying on the field for more than 3 plays each time we have the ball.
Where are you staying?
This is something I have raised many times, the lack of girth of our interior DL. We can get away with it in the MAC, but against a team like Pitt, whose lightest starting OL is 305, it can be problematic. Hopefully Alexander, Goodvine and Purdue transfer Moore can give us some quality minutes at interior DL this game.
We for some reason cannot recruit and keep DL players - we also lost two portal DL’s during training camp- why some many problems in this area?
I wouldn’t call it a problem, but we’ve done a good job of developing defensive ends. What is a problem is they get too good and transfer up to power conference schools. Adam Trick, Caiden Woullard, Lonnie Phelps, Kam Butler to name a few (also Dom Robinson is currently on an active NFL roster). We did hang on to Brian Ugwu and Corey Suttle was all conference last year. As far as the interior goes, we always seem to go a little light. Not sure if it’s by design, but our run D is usually towards the top of the MAC so the strategy seems to be working. We do have Marcus Moore, Logan Howell and Carmine Orozco all at our above 300 lbs so going heavier is an option.

Wisconsin, for a typically run heavy program with usually amazing O-lines, did not really overpower our defense last season. The defense, I thought, looked awesome in that game. I think the defense and ST will be in good shape, it is the offense that seems to be a major enigma.

I was really hoping to see DL Donovan Davis (6’ 1" and 307 lbs) and DL Carmine “The Big Ragu” Orozco (6’ 4" and 308 lbs) on the two-deep depth chart. I wonder what the story is with these two?
Key word being “usually.” Wisco last year averaged 12 ppg for the season and 9 ppg in conference. That was a shutout loss to a bad team.

Agreed. Wisconsin was not very good last year. I really thought we would’ve done better against them.
They also lost their qb very early in that game and was playing a transfer from an SDSU team that won like 3 or 4 games the year before. Our defense didn’t have tons to do
