I wish he were, but his past “game plans” against major OOC foes have not shown much positivity in his expectation that we can compete.

Agree, Pitt is not invincible like an “OSU” type team. The MAC has won twice in last 5 years vs Pitt if I recall with WMU and Toledo. Let us make this a third MAC win in 6 years and shock Chuck!

The ACC is a glorified G6 conference at this point. Last year their champion didn’t even make the CFP. Even if Pitt is towards the top of the conference they are beatable

Not only that, but the top of the MAC is more than capable of competing with mediocre power conference teams. Toledo and OU the last two seasons beat Pitt, Mississippi State, and WVU while keeping it within one possession of Kentucky, Louisville, and Rutgers. It’d be one thing if the other MACC attendees were getting blown out every game, but they aren’t.
Funny enough the Martin “we’re outmatched why bother” mindset really only applies to offense. Our defense and special teams have shown up in OOC against most power teams until they wear out from being on the field all day. There’s a gap on the offense (whether lack of confidence, courage, or skill from the staff) that neuters us every year.

Hopefully Chuck saw how invested the students and alumni base can get when you give them a reason to like Travis did. Suck it, The Man.

CM’s choice of words in this type of OOC game press conference unfortunate. Who and at what positions are Pitt " bench Players " better than our starters? He can sand bag all he wants but NEVER bad mouth your own players ! No doubt he has no to a poor game plan on offense for Pitt . Can we score a TD - we have not scored a TD in our last three season openers - we are on a two game losing streak dating back to last season .With the talent we have we should be competitive - CM this is not an exhibition game- show some leadership and coaching ability - your press confereence shows nether trait!

The only thing that scares me is if they still have that awesome special teams coach they took from us. Maybe he’s been poached by now….
That was painfully obvious in last year’s opener at Wisconsin.
Without consciously trying to be unkind to CM…but, at this stage of his career at Miami AND given Miami’s aspirations to exit the MAC in the relatively near future AND looking at the steps Sayler has taken over the past 3-5 years to improve the coaches who report to him AND looking specifically at the results and direction of most of the sports at Miami, CM needs to be clearly told that his preseason wandering around with little emphasis on really trying to win an OOC game is not acceptable any longer.
It’s not Travis Steele’s task to set an example but the men’s BB coach appears to be doing everything possible to schedule some P-4 equivalents in hoops as a means to building his program by winning as opposed to just collecting a paycheck.

Just a solid running game with some short pass routes and use of out TE’s - not only was the Wisc game bad ( a game we could have won ) but the Miami and NW games also bad. We have better talent and more depth this year - we need an upgrade in offensive coaching - hopefully GUS will have some input

Among current 2026 FBS head coaches with at least 3 completed FBS seasons, Martin is tied for the worst regular season nonconference winning percentage at 25% (11/33).
