Shot 67 to put him at -6. Rain interrupted play so the cut won’t be made until tomorrow. -6 is good for T39 currently with the cut at -5, but it’ll probably move to -6 with even softer conditions the rest of tonight and tomorrow morning. He’s probably safe, but you never know.
Cut will likely stay at -5, so he will play the weekend. It’s a very easy golf course, so maybe he can go super low tomorrow! No real pressure, as Patrick has kind of maxed out his year (qualified for Korn Ferry Finals) and I doubt Top 10 (which would get him another start) would be very difficult with 2 rounds to go.

This was a true gut check for him. Had to make up a ton of ground today and he did it. I’m putting my chips on him to get a tour card. I know it’s insane, but his story is compelling enough to get some more invites. Or, he makes his own weather and keeps qualifying. Either way, his game is correct. He can do this.
At 6 under, Flavin did indeed make the cut (Top 65 make cut, which was 5 under). He needs to finish 35th or better to make 20 grand. He tees off at 1pm today.
This is another day he has to play aggressive as the way things are going, the winner could darn well end up -24

Yes, the “big” tournament is The Scottish this week. The Barbasol is an “opposite field” event, for roughly half the money and half the Fed Ex Cup points. Patrick Flavin is not on the same level as the big boys, but has had a heck of a year to get to the Barbasol level….with a shot to get to the Tour. He’s grinded his way into Tour events through 4-5 Monday qualifiers and a Sponsor’s Exemption last week. Getting to the Korn Ferry Finals (via his T-10 last week on a Sponsor’s) is career altering. He will either be on the big Tour or Korn Ferry next year. Status is everything for these young guys and Patrick will have a place to play.
If he gets his Tour Card via the Finals, he still won’t be playing immediately in events like the Scottish Open (or Invitationals like Bay Hill, Memorial, WGC, etc), much less the majors. But, what he’s accomplished this year has been unbelievable and MANY other guys chasing their dream are very envious of his year and improved standing/status in the game. He’s gone from Single A ball to the cusp of a September call up to the Bigs.

The leaders are finishing up round 3 after all the rain delays yesterday. Assume they will play “lift and clean” rules today so scores in final round will be VERY low. Still, Patrick is tied for 23rd as he tees off and if he could maintain his position (which would likely require another 5 under round or better), he would be in for another decent payday, albeit nothing like the $177K he won last week…more like $30K.
If you go into the field, take a look at some of the names who didn’t make the cut. Some of these are guys who have won multiple tour titles. My point being, it may not be The Scottish Open, but the field is still pretty great. Either way, Patrick needs another mid 60’s round today to get himself where he wants to be: automatic call up to the bigs, baby!

Bogey free again today with a 69. Another nice showing and a decent payday for the week. Lots of momentum as he finished 14 under for the week.

Currently tied for 23rd if it holds up…good outing…should pick up $30K plus for his efforts.
It will put him over 300k for the year (unless Puerto Rico doesn’t count for 2022) I get a little confused sometimes on how the pga points and money works. Either way, he’s showing he’s worthy.

Patrick playing in the Korn Ferry Finals the next 3 weeks. First round 68 (-3) today in Boise has him at T-26. Next week at OSU Scarlet in Columbus followed by final tournament in Evansville area.
He needs to finish in the top 25 in points in these 3 tournaments to get on the PGA tour full time next year. Essentially, a top 6 finish in any of the next 3 tournaments will guarantee that. Or multiple top 25’s might do the trick as well.
