Great par save by Patrick on 15. Right now he’s at -14 (T-7). Hopefully he can get at least one more birdie coming in.
Birdie at 16. Big roar from the crowd. I think Patrick has some friends and family there rooting him on. Has to help.
Another huge par save. This time on the par 5 17th. Kinda made a meal of it, but saves it by draining a 22 footer for par. Heads to 18.
Damn, bogey on 18. He got a little loose off the tee on the last two holes. Saved it on 17, but it bit him on 18. Finishes -14 for the tournament. Currently T-8. Probably won’t end up in the top 10, but still a tremendous and career changing week for Patrick. He’ll secure a spot in the KFT finals, and may earn another start on the PGA tour. Also will put some cash in his pocket which has to feel good.
He’s getting better. There’s no doubt about that. Looks like he belongs.
Disappointing final hole, but “Leader in the clubhouse” sounds very nice.
Great round by Patrick and he’s currently tied for 10th but with all the low scores and players still out on the course, that won’t likely hold up…still, a top 20 is still a possibility…would be a nice payday for him.
Well, he’s still tied for 10th…as we just went to commercial break he was on the first page leaderboard graphic shown…
He’d dropped to t-11th, but thanks to Bo Hoag going +5 over his last 4 holes, Flavin moved back into a t-10th. Awesome for Patrick!
Awesome to get your first top ten finish in a PGA event…congrats to Patrick…his 66 today was one of the day’s best rounds.
P.S. prolly picked up around $170K too!
$179,275 to be exact.
179k. Likely his biggest payday ever so far. Just did exactly what he had to do. with that round in the 60’s. A few more top tens will get him where he needs to be.
Top 10 finish also gets him into another non-invitational PGA tour event…it’s a big deal.
Is Bob Lohr currently the only Miami golfer to win a PGA event?
If this is Jeopardy, I say “yes”. Lohr is #1. In Miami history on account of a few tour wins. Then it’s Brad who has a 2nd place finish and several top ten’s (Travellers, Bob Hope, Hawaii) and also a Nationwide tour victory. After that, Patrick might now be the 3rd best (and rising) in Miami history. Some of the more senior/wiser folks here may find someone I missed.
After my post, I looked up Bob…he tied for first in three PGA events but only won one playoff (vs. Chip Beck in Disney Classic). In addition, he finished second in four other PGA events…not bad.
Playing this week at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky.
Patrick played fine today -1. Leader is like -10 though so he’s got to play very aggressive tomorrow and shoot a 67 or so to have a shot at the weekend. These guys are crazy good. -1 puts him at 91st place. Nuts.
Flavin 2 under for the day after 10 holes…3 under total and cut line projected at 4 under so he needs another birdie or two coming down the stretch to play into the weekend.
