Monitoring the Miami Transfer Portal

We should see if Lockett can bring this guy with him!!

Mallory and Lockett would be great additions. Hopefully Mallory’s relationship with former MSU DL coach (now at Miami) Ron Burton gives us an edge.

And here I was thinking that Treadwell was still pulling the strings at Sparty.

One site is showing Lockett to Miami and Mallory 30% chance to WMU and 28% chance to Miami!

Wednesday begins the 5 day window for official visits. If we’re going to be adding more players via the portal, we’ll likely see some action this week.

It may well be an error but the on3 daily tracker shows Damel Hickman, a DB from East Carolina, as trasfering to Miami. The odd thing is they do not repeat the claim in either ECU’s or Miami’s pages.

Yeah I’m not sure what to make of that. They show the same thing for a Houston CB transfer (Demarcus Griffin-Taylor). I could be wrong, but I believe it’s a prediction where he’ll go. Kinda like how 247 does the “crystal ball” thing where they predict where recruits will commit. Neither Hickman or GT have announce anything on Twitter.

At this stage it looks like only one of Miami’s 10 transfer outs - Saunders - has been picked up by an FBS program. In comparing that to what’s happened at Kent, maybe that shows we’re hanging onto our better talent.

Caleb Shaffer is visiting Oklahoma today

This is amazing. Last year during the UNT bowl game, I happened to be watching it with my in-law’s who are huge Oklahoma fans. They liked our team a lot but when they saw Caleb, they all agreed he looked like he could play for Oklahoma.

Miami gets a rather surprising, but terrific transfer commitment from former Colorado QB Maddox Kopp

Kopp had offers from Colorado, Houston, Ole Miss, Tulane, and Wyoming come out of high school. Started at Houston, then transferred to Colorado. Now he is headed to Oxford. He has three years of eligibility remaining

Three schools in three years.

What’s maybe more interesting to me is what it means about Brett Gabbert’s future. He has two years of eligibility remaining. I’m curious what Maddox was told regarding potential playing time. Has Gabbert told the coaching staff he’s only playing for one more year? Otherwise I’m not sure I get why Miami would be an attractive landing spot for Maddox.

Makes me wonder what Humphreys is thinking right about now.

It can’t be good for us. He appears to be a very good get. Would hate to lose him. Hey–Joseph–one way to deal with it–go out and win the job!

This board sure is convinced Humphreys is going to be second coming. I mean, he’s a good looking prospect, but I’m not sure why we’re so worried about a kid who has never played a snap. If he doesn’t want to compete with Maddox (or anyone else we bring in) then so be it.
