Monitoring the Miami Transfer Portal

They already kind of do that. The G5 teams usually do the recruiting leg work of recruiting HS kids and offering them first while the P5 teams concentrate on the season and then later they comb through the commitment lists and flip anybody they want and are seldom turned down.

It’s kind of like relegation, but with players and not entire schools.

Or, as Barney Fife would say, nip it in the bud right now!

Rivals has John Young ranked as #71 on the transfer rankings… and Rivals thinks we use Maryland’s logo…

We’re now Miami (MD).

I don’t think there will be many established P5 or Gof5 schools go all portal, all the time.

P5 schools will continue to recruit and sign 4 and 5 star high school players. They use the portal for high end opportunities and to fill occasional gaps. They’ll develop their 4’s & 5’s that stick around and continue on at the top of the food chain. It seems to be working pretty well for them.

I think almost everyone else will sign less high school players and depend a more on the portal. Lower level P5’s will raid the Go5’s All Conference teams and get kids looking to go “big time” to make up for signing less high school players and their portal losses.

Go5 schools will use P5 players moving down to fill the gaps caused by the f’in biggie-big P5 body snatchers and to depend on the portal for the fewer HS players they bring in.

Left the program after his freshman year. It doesn’t appear that he’s playing anywhere else.

A shame. Offers galore…a la Kendrell McFadden!

Jace Williams update… He’s doing well. He was enrolled at Miami for one year but did not play football. He had a foot injury and decided to “hang up the cleats.” No longer enrolled at Miami.

Cole Weaver signed with Miami last week.

His signing was in the Miami press release on signing day.

Thanks, missed it.

Apparently he accepted the Miami offer. A Big 10 letterman.

Not saying Lockett hasn’t committed to Miami. But if he has, he hasn’t announced it on social media. So I’m not exactly sure what source that website has. Miami is his only offer currently, so it does seem likely that he’s headed our way.
