Mid-Major Top 25

Our depth is one of the strongest part of this team - we just need one more big/ rim protector/ rebounder.

Unlike many teams that go 8-9 deep, the players past the first 5 are usually minimal contributors to team success and play primarily to give one or more ā€œstartersā€ a rest.

Miamiā€™s top 8-9, at least from what Iā€™ve seen, all appear to be interchangeably capable of both starting and backing up the starting 5 with minimal loss of skillā€¦and that makes the overall team even more dangerous to opponents.

I totally disagree that we have minimal depth. I think we have the right amount of contributing players (9) and 2 others that could play in a pinch

Having 15 contributing players is not realistic

I do agree that the MAC is way down from historical norms. The non conference was not good. On the eye ball test I would probably say it is a little better than last year but statistically this might be the worst year ever

Iā€™m not sure how closely youā€™re following this yearā€™s team if you think depth is an issue. This team isnā€™t perfectā€¦ but depth beyond the starting 5 isnā€™t one of the squadā€™s weaknesses.

I just checked all 6 of our MAC games to see how many players played 15 mins for each team:
vs. BG: 8 to their 5
vs Kent: 8 to their 6
vs NIU: 8 to their 6
vs WMU: 8 to their 7
vs Ball St: 7 to their 6
vs Buffalo: 8 to their 6

So literally in every MAC game, we play more guys 15+ minutes than our opponent. Not only is Miamiā€™s depth not a weakness, its a strength. Iā€™d guess either Akron or us are the deepest team in the league.

You are dead wrong on this (though Iā€™m guessing you wonā€™t admit this and literally everyone telling you differently just doesnā€™t follow Miami sports or know ball like you do). CBus, I appreciate your passion, but the last week youā€™ve bounced from thread to thread: dismissing peopleā€™s knowledge of Miami sports (safe to say anyone following a small program on an internet message board follows the team), belittling peopleā€™s taste in beer, throwing ad hominems at Jive (fuck you Jivehawk).

Not sure whatā€™s going on in your life, but maybe simmer?

2 of last 3 games leading scorer has come off the bench

The NCAA D1 stats do not support your contention.

Miami is 2nd in the MAC with bench pointsā€”26.4 ppg. That is 57th in the country out of 355 teams. 32% of total points are coming from the bench. Miami is in top 15% for bench points.

Akron is 1st in the MAC (10th in the country) at 34.2 ppg.

Do bench points determine Saturdayā€™s game?

Letā€™s just see how things play out before saying this team has such depth.

Simply because one is playing for six minutes doesnā€™t equate to depth.

Feels like 2007 again. Just watched Alec Martinez and come home log into hawktalk to see negative idiots.

Rutgers, Kansas, UCLA, Arkansas, etc., etc. (OU has a deeper roster than MU, IMHO). Miami goes 6-7 deep, COMFORTABLY. Skaljac is fine. Heā€™s a marginal player. Ipsaro the same. I think they have a ton of potential, but with the freshmen class next year, I assure you that some of this deep roster wonā€™t be playing as much. Letā€™s just wait and see.

I donate to the Collective, was a sports writer for the paper, and am a mega fan. One thing about this site is that some of you are super fucking clique.

Miami basketball and football will be appreciably better going forward with the growing financial support. Stop being so defensive about rather obvious statements. Six players who contribute does NOT make a team deep. Seven, at times.

I rejoined after being banned 15 years ago. Strictly because this basketball team is a wagon and come back to see nothing has changed.

This team has a different leading scorer every game, bench scorer has led team 2 of last 3 games, thereā€™s plenty of data points to show that the bench is deeper than most teams.

Eric Pollitz isnā€™t on this bench, thereā€™s actual talent here.

Grow up. Iā€™ve sat on the sidelines for years and see some of you belittle others. Itā€™s a message board. You take and you give. Iā€™m criticized for my opinions and yet then I am criticized for dishing it back. Using certain language is not an ad hominem attack. Buckle up.

Love and Honor.

Banned? Thatā€™s deplorable. Welcome back. No one should be banned. I respect your opinion.

O I was banned. Luckily Iā€™ve matured (maybe)

I donā€™t understand getting banned from something like this. Iā€™m sure many folks on here are Republicans who supported Trump. Guy says the most outrageous things and folks support him. This doesnā€™t mean Iā€™m a Republican or Democrat, but free speech should be encouraged.

Jive is incredibly knowledgeable, but he can certainly put people in their place. And itā€™s definitely not $50,000 to operate this. Iā€™m sure many of you are trolling. Treat others with respect if one is so easily offended.

And Iā€™m sorry, Warped Wing is an abomination. Canā€™t believe thereā€™s no competition for actual good beer in Oxford.

I know a lot about recruiting. Iā€™m friends with Miami legends. My son is being recruited. But some of you are not nice. And as I indicated, Iā€™ve stood on the sidelines for many years. Iā€™ll treat everyone with the same respect yā€™all afford ALL posters.

But if we donā€™t want to be copacetic about everything, then donā€™t criticize others. To each his or her own.

Why were you banned? Was it regarding a specific post or thread?

One thing, Hoosier, donā€™t ever attack me on a personal level. Completely disrespectful. Jive is regularly disrespectful to posters. But itā€™s all in fun and jest. If folksā€™ canā€™t taste the difference between a good beer and piss, I can equally call them out like Jive, right?

Regardless, peace and love. Love and Honor.
