Yes, the NEW one. It features a drive-thru and a full DQ food menu. I was speaking of the one that sat at the corner of Westgate and CC Pike, where a credit union now sits. When it closed its large glass windows became a popular target for rock throwing.IIRC, the current Wendy’s next door is where WOXY had its studios.
I had great memories of the Dairy Queen until an encounter in the alley directly next to the DQ with one of the worst Oxford policemen of the day.
First Ram Jam album is very underrated. I own it on vinyl and CD. The hit Black Betty is an old blues song written by Leadbelly when he was in prison.
Certainly in the final four, but going to have a tough time playing on Monday night.

I love when a thread veers around corners and gets around to talking about old drinking and music establishments.
I never got into the Boar’s Head scene.I was a fan of The Purity in the '70s. Loved the band with the Beatles medley. Beatles music was a lot fresher then.

In other uptown news they’ve changed the brick street sign from the old movie theater to LED
About time! I still have a significant scar on my right arm from the old one.
In the you reap what you sow category no Uptown bar night was complete without jumping up and grabbing a letter from the old sign. Eventually management must have gotten sick of that and put up a very sharp piece of metal at the bottom of the sign. While there was a certain amount of justice in my injury I felt it was a pretty extreme anti theft deterrent. Had the cut been three inches closer to my wrist…
I met my wife of 52 years serving her beer from behind the bar on a Tuesday night in July 1971. I remember everything about the Boar’s Head. The best was drink and drown night. $2.50 got you in and all of the Burger draft beer you could drink at no extra charge along with one of the excellent bands Bake mentioned (East Orange Express, The Nightcrawlers, etc.) I was very proficient on the pool table with all of its resident drifts (eight ball at $.50 a game, challengers put up the quarter, play until you lose). Bar closed when the owners got in trouble with the sales tax people.

I got to know Jerry Angelo when he worked the bar there. I called him from a pay phone in at Ross-Ade Stadium a few minutes after we beat Purdue! He said the Boar’s Head was going crazy!
Anyone ever enter any of the Boars Head beer chugging contests?
When deciding what to do with my last dollar to my name just before graduation, a pitcher of beer at The Purity was the easy decision.

that was my book store up until i finished, i cant imagine what will replace it but i assume some two story building will be built

The Baskin Robbins was next door to Bruno’s original location in the white brick building (EDDIE posted pix). BR never came back after the 1996 fire at Bruno’s that destroyed the building. Bruno’s opened its current location down the street about a year or two later (which has pretty much the same layout of the original Bruno’s).
Yikes. Has it REALLY been 30 years since that fire? SMH.
We’re only a couple of years away from the 30 year anniversary of the water tower’s demise.
