Anybody remember in the 78-79 timeframe a small place in the water tower square that sold excellent lamb kebabs?
Boars Head burgers were the best. Used to sneak in there while I still was in high school and gotta admit I was far more interested in the burgers than the beer.
In the late 60’s the Lemonpipers periodically played there. The summer of 1967, my favorite band was “Lil” Roger and the Vels, a family band out of Hamilton, including Roger Troutman, his brother Lester, and his sister. Their dad used to bring them up in his car pulling a little trailer with their equipment. Roger later became famous in the Funk music business.

Not sure I had a Boars Head burger, but remember the awe-inspiring 1/3 lb. Burger at Jim’s Steakhouse. Allowed myself to splurge every couple months. What’s the record for most threads under a single subject?
The “steak” sandwich w pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese at Al and Larry’s was the best sandwich in town. Now I am hungry.

Was that Mr. Jim’s Steakhouse? Lower level below the game room? They would serve a big baked potato smothered in butter with their burgers.Became a semi-regular Saturday night routine.

Don’t forget the band Medicine Wheel They where out of Cbus and played there a lot in the 70’s & early 80’s
My Junior year - ‘69/70 - there were flyers pasted to High Street light poles one weekend advertising a concert at the Oxford Armory. It was for the Stone Ponies featuring Linda Ronstadt with $5 admission. I had never heard of them. It’s a concert I’m forever regretful of missing.

Surprised they didn’t do that as soon as that football player got arrested like a decade ago.
I loved the Burns Boy, too, but I can’t remember what restaurant served it.
The Burns Boy was served in the downstairs of Al & Larry’s, which I think the restaurant was called The Cupboard. There was also a sister restaurant in Hamilton that served it.
