What “relevant facts” would excuse him from leaving the team with 2 regular season games to play? If he were injured or bereaving to the extent he couldn’t play, he would still be a member of the team. Instead, he’s off the roster entirely. Lose your obsession with contrarianism for 2 seconds and realize that we already have all the facts we need.
Very disappointing response -none of us have the facts- as I have constantly said to the young attorneys on my teams be very careful that you have all the facts before reaching any conclusions. He may not have voluntarily left the team or he may have been constructively discharged. In any event as I said above we should put this entire discussion on hold and concentrate on beating UB and BallState.
It’s a good thing this is a furious message board and not a court of law then.
Please enlighten me – particularly in the aftermath of watching Henry Hesson make a mockery of the act of playing QB – what would cause our starting QB to be dismissed (or “constructively discharged”) with 2 games to go where it is not the result of him being a seismic piece of shit? I’m genuinely curious what you envision as plausibilities here.
When Finn left Toledo, there was rumors of a blowup with Candle at the end.
When Finn was at Baylor, basically everyone close to the team insinuated the injury was not bad enough to keep him out all year and was used as a cover for everyone that he lost the QB job. Several social media posts from Baylor students or those close to the team called him the biggest asshole they’ve ever dealt with.
At Miami, several “close to the team” indicated Finn was not well liked in the locker room. At the Toledo game, several “close to the team” indicated the illness was not real, and he wasn’t playing because he was quitting on the team (before the news broke). After leaving, several people have reported a huge blowup with Chuck following Ohio and now someone above has reported he shoved a coach at practice as well. Miami is a close knit community. Many on this board talk to players, parents, student workers, students on campus, etc. Some on this board are player parents themselves. This isn’t a court of law where we are going to put witnesses on the stand.
Maybe Finn is the most unlucky guy in the world and everyone from 3 colleges are spreading mean rumors about him…or maybe the guy is just an ass?
True
Several Toledo fans I know told me this when he committed to us
Hi Ballcoach1- I really hope you are right and you have been a Henry believer from the beginning.
Unfortunately in his 2 fbs starts (bowl game and last week) and the game against unlv I dont think he has done anything to make me excited. He was excruciating in the rain soaked bowl game (app state qb was good) and had the worst fbs quarterback performance of the year vs Toledo.
I hope he plays great Wednesday but I havent seen the evidence. You are obviously closer to the team than me- so please give me that hope
I agree not a court of law and Finn may be an asshole but CM chose him to be our rep at the MAC media day and went out of his way to say good things about him all year .- if those rumors re Finn were true why did we sign him ? I believe I also recall CM say he tried to recruit Finn out of high school and thought very highly of him then. In his “ crafted PR “ statement. CM said positive things about Finn - was all that for PR cover? I do not know Finn and probably will never meet him. No doubt we will never know the entire story given the lack of media coverage of Miami FB and the “ bubble “ that surrounds Oxford. It may be Finn complained about our game plans or our play calling and had the balls to do it albeit maybe in the wrong way. If he was dismissed from the team because he raised legit issues that should concern of all of us. What hopefully we all can agree upon however is we would have had a better chance of winning the Toledo game if he had played and we would be in a better chance to win our remaining games if he was our QB. If it makes people feel better to call Finn an asshole without knowing all the facts I suppose they should go for it. I agree no one one player is above the team and he may be at fault here. No one coach or coaches are however also above the program or University and I get the sense from time to time CM believes he answers to no one. In any event as I have said numerous times through this EM chain lets concentrate on beating UB and Ball State.
Once games are being played people change
He will unlikely never play in the NFL as a QB. He was pretty good at times, but nothing amazing. I hope he has a good job lined up with his degree or else he better be good at “putting the fries in the bag.” College football needs to reimplement the sit out a year for transfers. The system is broken. The system actually is harmful to the STUDENT athletes in the long run. Quick money is sadly not the answer. To get back on track, let us win out and then win our bowl game!
Agree. Finn will never see the NFL
Chuck seems to value culture above all else, this is a case where chasing talent and overlooking his past came back bite us.
The thing no one has brought up is imo the most important part of playing at Miami. If you want to coach, the program seems to have an uncanny ability to get guys in good places. Forget the NFL for a second. Why would anyone recommend him for a college job now. Even as a GA. That’s the lesson. Be someone people want to work with.
Also. Finkle is Einhorn.
The whole situation is just bizarre for Miami.
I’d be curious to know when Hesson knew he was starting. Did he have a chance to practice with the starters all week? I agree that he played badly but I’m not yet to the point of throwing him under the bus.
I thought it was confirmed that Finn didn’t practice all week before the Toledo game, so Hesson should have been taking all the 1st team snaps all week. Didn’t seem to help much.
Unlike the others who left, Finn left while the regular season was going on. Not during the bowl season. That is quitting on the team. And for the record I don’t like players who stop playing in bowl season, but at least I have a little more understanding for that. Trust me, I was far from happy what Enjulina Gonzalez did last year when Miami got into the post season. Staff wasn’t happy with how she handled it either. But Finn quit during the regular season. That is a fact.
Why do people date and stay with nightmare people? Because they think this time will be different and that they can change them. Chuck took a risk. It failed. Thankfully, it was only nothing more than a one year marriage anyway.
Can we please stop defending (or trying to “both sides”) the guy who quit on all of us?
From my understanding they had little time to prepare Henry. That’s why I’m hoping for the next two games to look better. I have always believed in Henry and still do.
