Finn's Side of the Story

Before we reach conclusions regarding Finn leaving the team we should hear his side of the story. Was he excluded from game plan meetings? If yes by who? Was he limited in what he could do re play calling in a game? What was his relationship with our OC? Was he discouraged by the lack of development of our O line/? Did Ringer run the wrong route in the game ending interception at OU ? Was he really sick last week and the coached did not believe him? What was his relationship with the rest of the team? Did he receive physical threats from Toledo people last week if he played against the Rockets? Had he had enough of CM ā€˜s poor play calling? ETC. CM’s press comments make no sense- Miami fans are owed a full and complete explanation from all involved.

3 teams that he left over the past 3 years. Tells me all I need to know

Further re Martin. If CM knew there was a change Finn would not play against UB or the rest of the year ( which he had to know ) why did he keep Hesson in the game after it was out of reach. This is typical of CM’s ā€œ reasoningā€ and makes no sense for at lest two reasons; ( 1) Hesson could have gotten hurt as Toledo even just rushing 4 was all over him, and ( 2 ) we should have given our number 3 QB a chance to see what he could do and also gain some game experience. This follows years of CM not giving second team QB’s real game time experience. From what I can determine Finn has never been a quitter anywhere he played . Given the reputation CM has for being stubborn and lacking in game prep and playing calling common sense I wonder if CM chose to back an assistant coach over Finn? ( maybe for good reason but we need to remember Finn was very experienced and in his 7th year - no doubt he could add some helpful experience to game prep planning ).While no player is bigger than the team and Finn may be at fault b in this situation by like token no coach ( and his staff ) are bigger than the program and the University. A good head coach would have found a way to keep a very talented player like Finn on the team unless there are circumstances here that are not being disclosed.

ā€œ He’s Never been a quitterā€on any of the 3? Teams he quit? Sounds plausible?

I would like to here any side of the story because what I have heard so far 1) sick all week and 2) left the team to concentrate on his pro career makes ZERO sense.

Remember he was the fashion model for the cradle of coaches jerseys for the Toledo game.

I’m sorry but I’m really not interested in Finn’s side of the story. My guess is the teammates he quit on aren’t either.

For all we know the jersey photo shoot took place weeks ago.

Actions speak louder than words. I wouldn’t mind if Finn gave a statement so we have more info, but I don’t think he’s a reliable narrator at this point.

He got a polite announcement from CM.. he can tell his side but he doesn’t need to. We have him cover he likely didn’t deserve

Yeah that was my ā€œtakeā€ on Chuck’s comments. Very forgiving and gracious if you will. Perhaps unwarranted to some degree, but I am sure things will all ā€œcome out in the washā€ in the coming days.

I struggle to see any upside for Finn if he really wants to try out for the NFL. If he did indeed just quit on his team for selfish reasons, that is just an awful look.

The fact that the sanitized, nice Chuck media version of the story is Finn selfishly left his teammates to focus on his own personal future when the team very much had championship hopes pre-Toledo and still even after is telling enough. Makes DQ look awful and the full story would likely make Finn look even worse.

The way I read it, it was Chuck who still cares about all his guys, even those that disappoint him, giving him cover. Just look at the wry smile Chuck gives when the question is asked in the announcement. I don’t read that expression as flattering of Finn at all.

Chuck never said Finn quit the team, he said he would be focused on getting ready for the draft. That makes me wonder if he was thrown off the team and this was just Chuck covering Miami’s ass. If something is being investigated, you can’t risk playing an ineligible player.

The entire saga is definitely cloaked in secrecy.

It would not surprise me at all if Chuck Martin stole a cloaking device from the Klingons.

Chuck’s whole personal brand is being old school to a fault, it makes sense he’s not gonna come out and blast someone personally when that’s never been his thing. But he is not the only representative of the program, Sayler or Decker owe a response if Chuck won’t get into it.

So much of this speculation could have been solved if either of the media members asked a single follow up question about this. Its still completely wild to me two ā€œreportersā€ heard a coach say their star QB is no longer on the team and didn’t have a single follow up? Even a simple ā€œHey coach, just to clarify, did DQ leave the team voluntarily or was this a disciplinary issue?ā€ would have gone a long way without getting into personal details.

Side of the story? There are 2 games left of the season, the dude isn’t sick/hurt/bereaving, and he just left the team. Who gives a shit what his side of the story is? What a sad state of affairs that we ever let this guy on campus.

Neither Finn nor Chuck Martin has performed at a level to give our team a realistic chance at a championship this year.

He does not want to tell the story but surely the team does and will At some point.

Beat Buffalo.
