Although Akron has really stretched out its lead in the team vs. Suder competition.
The shooting probably isn’t sustainable, but the defensive effort is and that is how we will bring this home…

It’s unlikely that Miami can stay this hot from three, but they can replicate the defensive intensity we saw in the first half. Akron got very few clean looks at threes, and Miami needs to keep that up.

I am glad we bumped it back up to a dozen. They had a mini-run but it didn’t shave off too much from the lead.
They also called us the Akron Redhawks but he did correct himself 30 seconds later

We were down 25 at half last time against them. They can easily do that to us again in a half. Need to keep the foot on the pedal

I assume Akron will drive to the basket, that is where they had their most success. Maybe some monster at the top of the key to throw off their rhythm for driving from the top of the key?

Not too much to repeat. That was one of our best halves of the year, if not the best. Except for the offensive rebounds, not too much to be upset about on defense. We got caught in some bad switches but they didn’t really take advantage of them. That would be 1 adjustment I’d look for them to make. When their ballhandler gets matched up against Woolfolk or Potter, he’s giving the ball up too easily. We hedged hard a few times, but I’d like to see that happen every time. Tough 2s are fine. If they win with tough 2s, so be it.
Offensively, we did a great job attacking them off the dribble. Some of that was due to them not guarding us as closely as they did in the 1st meeting. That would be the other adjustment I’d expect them to make, which they started to do in the last 5 minutes or so of the 1st half. They will light us up on the perimeter, so we need to be strong with the ball, move it quickly and reverse it. Just because we scored 46 in the 1st half doesn’t mean we can 1 pass and jack a 3.
Poise, stay focused. Suder and Elmer both have 2 fouls, that could be big. Let’s play under control, not conservatively, under control. We always talk about the 1st 4 minutes of the 2nd half. Winning these first 4 minutes would go a long way. If not and they make a run, poise and control.
