Just like the Potato Bowl, we’re probably overdue for the erstwhile Camellia Bowl. Our next 6-6 season probably will lead to Montgomery.
So hopefully, we aren’t in Montgomery anytime soon, meaning we won’t be settling for 6-6.

As of this morning this is what McMurphy has us penciled into. He has Buffalo playing Georgia Southern in Detroit and Toledo playing the Cajuns in Albuquerque.
RT airfare from CVG to Tucson or Phoenix that weekend is about $600.
I think the “short end of the stick” gets you the Potato Bowl.
That would be a very good opponent, a good bowl destination (for players and fans), and a pretty good date in the bowl season among the non playoff bowls.
Yeah not a very compelling location (Montgomery) and date (Dec. 14). Could be chilly in Montgomery that time of year. (and we found out it might be rainy on Florida as well!)
Arizona sure is dry except for February monsoon season.
Tucson is great, I was once there in december and it was like 80, then we went up north to the Grand Canyon and it was below 0
SI has us in Tucson as does the NY Times. I see SI correctly pegged WMU in Camellia Bowl.
77 and sunny here in Phoenix today FWIW.
I’d love an Arizona Bowl invite!!!
Trying to recall all of McMurphy’s MAC projections. Here goes:
NIU in Bahamas Bowl
WMU in Montgomery Bowl
Buffalo in Detroit Bowl
BG in Potato Bowl
Toledo in New Mexico Bowl
Ohio in the Boca Bowl
Miami in Arizona Bowl as a 3.5 point favorite vs. Colorado State
I like that line up if it comes to fruition; we play a well known school in a great climate and good date (Dec. 28).
Need to channel our last bowl victory in Arizona from the 1951 Salad Bowl in Phoenix.(Salad Bowl was played from 1948-55).
We defeated a 9-1 Arizona State team 34-21 behind our star running back John Pont, while holding ASU’s all American RB Wilford White to a season low 106 yards on the ground. The Miami HC that year was none other than Woody Hayes. Attendance was 24,000.
P.S. disclaimer: even I wasn’t born yet in 1951!
Not usually, but last year it was pretty widely known that the loser was going to Tucson and the winner to Orlando.
Well, if winner this year goes to Arizona and loser to Boca, that’s not so bad. Presume we’d get a better known opponent if playing in Arizona.
Ohio was just there in 2022. I don’t think that formula would hold true this season.
I could see why they would like to have East Carolina in their game. They had a little resurgence the second half of the season after they switched out Head Coaches, and historically have a very loyal following when they are winning. A pretty easy commute to Myrtle from Greenville, NC.
Not sure if already reported, but Sporting News predicts us in 68Ventures Bowl (Mobile) vs. Georgia Southern.
Ya never know about these things as they are a work in progress with ESPN calling most the shots, but I am noticing a trend that our most likely destinations could be the Arizona, Boca, or 68 Ventures Bowl.
I would not mind another trip to Mobile. Mobile is a lot of fun and the city really supports the bowl game.
Another MAC bowl placement announced early…probably because of the complexities of international travel. Game date was pushed to early January this season.
Nassau bars aren’t going to like the dip in rum sales with Liberty in the Bahamas Bowl.
