On Oct 13, Jerry Palm projects Miami will be playing Duke in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec 18. I like that projection a lot!
I’ll take that right now.
Me three!
From what I have seen, that is the only current prediction that has us bowling at all. Many prognosticators have EMU and/or BG bowling, but not us.
One of the ESPN guys also has us in Boca, the other does not have us in a bowl. I’m guessing a big reason is that right now most experts look at the record and see that we’re currently not on pace to be bowl eligible.
Tropical depression forming in the Caribbean…
In Jerry Palm’s updated bowl projections out today, he has us penciled in the Boca Raton Bowl vs. Georgia Tech.
And, somehow, we now are not listed in either ESPN bowl projection. So somehow, our win against OU, at least according to the WWL, proved to be detrimental to our quest for bowl eligibility.
I figure when these so-called prognosticators get to G5 conferences like the MAC, for the most part they simply pencil in the first 6 teams w winning records.
Palm is an analytical guy, so I am guessing he has metrics that kick out stats that say that we are likely to be a top half MAC team in the end despite our current 3-4 record.
His post this morning actually has 8 MAC teams bowling. I don’t think that’s ever going to happen.
ESPN being lazy when it comes to G5 schools? I never!
USA Today now has us projected for the Myrtle Beach Bowl (I can hear Nescadad applauding!) against Georgia Southern.
To steal a Nike tagline: Just Do It!
As of Oct 27th, Jerry Palm still has Miami in Boca - now vs UConn. He has a record 8 MAC teams in bowls.
Looks like the MAC could end up with a number of barely eligible bowl teams w 6-6 records.
The ESPN boys’ projections are out. One has us in Boca vs Tulane. The other had us in the Bahamas again vs Liberty. I don’t think Bahamas will be it. Interesting that Boca keeps coming up. Someone must know we’re on their watch list.
I’m hoping for the Arizona bowl
Oh so we are allowed to go there now. Last year this board hated that idea and instead we got 10 hours of downpours on exam week
The board hated it because at the time, the Arizona Bowl wasn’t on standard TV. Fans of other schools that had previously played in it also expressed disappointment with that idea. That changed before the bowl games were announced last year, when the decision was made to air the game on the CW.
I like Boca against those potential opponents.
