Can we hope for a change in hockey?
So…is he coaching the game today?
MAC Championship game today - Ball State leads Kent 5-1 in the third inning of an elimination game for the Flashes. If Cards win does Kent still get in? Their RPI is 44.
Ball State blew an 8-2 lead and trailed Kent 9-8 going into the ninth. Cards rallied for three in the top of 9 to take the championship 12-9. I’m guessing that leaves Kent - even with a 44 RPI - on the bubble for the tournament.
ECU lost in shocking fashion to 18-40 Tulane, which went on a Cinderella run to the AAC title. ECU is for sure going to get an at-large bid, which can’t help Kent’s chances.
And Xavier beat #9 UConn twice to win the Big East. That can’t help Kent either.
Charlotte upsets Dallas Baptist. Looking more and more like MAC is a one bid league and Kent (now a 52 RPI) stays home. What a shame!
Looks like Kent was first team out. Ball State going to Lexington to play UK, IU and WVU.
And to think we almost swept Kent this year and played Ball State pretty close in 2 of 3. MU should be a great job.
Kent State, Miami and Ohio have traditionally been the best MAC jobs.

And now Scott Googins is officially available (albeit under a slightly cloudy situation)…I would still give him a chance to turn our program around.

I would want a lot more information about the circumstances of his departure before allowing him to run the program.

For those wondering about Goggins, here’s some general information. What Chuck is talking about involves the gambling situation with Alabama baseball and a UC baseball parent being the one who’s accused of making said bet. That’s an entirely different thread

Look elsewhere. The cloud is likely much larger and darker than has been revealed. Goggins, the parent and Heilmann have had a long relationship.

Looking at the rosters of four or five of the teams still playing today is enlightening. It appears about half of all their rosters - including even Duke - are comprised of transfers from other four year colleges, with a smattering of JC transfers thrown in. Tyler Bosma, who pitched three years for us, is a Grad Student on the UK pitching staff.
