Ohio halts betting on Alabama baseball after suspicious activity

Suspicious, how? I honestly don’t know the rest of the story on it

Could the Wise Guys have been up to some mischief in NOLA?

Alabama has fired its head baseball coach. Per the university statement, this was “for, among other things, violating the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of University employees.”

I’m reading the same thing here, Chuck. It was a scratch on the starting pitcher less than an hour before the Friday game vs LSU and a large bet on the money line

Now it just gets better. It’s like “Eight Men Out” with the betting in Cincinnati all over again.

Sportsbook surveillance video indicated that the person who placed the bets was communicating with Bohannon at the time, multiple sources with direct information about the investigation told ESPN.

The alleged suspicious activity took place Friday at the sportsbook at the Great American Ball Park, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission.

Dude places multiple massive bets on an obscure game happening across the country, the team that was bet against removes multiple starters in unannounced last minute lineup changes, and the guy who placed the bet takes a call from that team’s coach immediately beforehand while in the sportsbook. I was initially impressed with the monitoring software to catch this, but after learning more this is actually one of the dumbest crimes I’ve ever seen.

I guess Alabama decided that it would not let the coach resign and agree to not say anything that might harm his “good name”.

Does that mean Alabama’s Athletic Department operates in a more ethical manner than Miami’s? I think I just threw up a little.

Well Alabama’s coach may have committed federal crimes, which is more than a bit different from what Hendrix did.

You have to be pretty stupid to commit any crimes in a casino. They have more cameras than an iPhone factory.

I was shocked at how crappy the coach’s record was at Alabama. You’d think they would demand big time results for almost 500 bills a year

New update to this story and now UC baseball is part of the story.

In another story related to UC, The Athletic and Bleacher Report have stories out implicating former UC AD Mike Bohn for creating a toxic culture at Colorado, UC and at USC. Appears the LA Times finally uncovered enough to get him (soft) fired out there.

UC forced two baseball assistants out the other day. This morning, their head coach announced his resignation.

That guy went there from X and won a lot at X. Not as much at UC. Must be very bad stuff coming out.

He bragged to the sportsbook employees about having insider information and showed them the conspiratorial text messages to try to convince them to take his bet!

:man_facepalming:

How does this guy even put on pants in the morning?
