2026 MAC Tournament Projections

A road of CMU then BG to get to the final would be ideal

1 game window left. Let’s see if we can figure this out.

  1. Miami 17-0. Clinched #1
  2. Akron 16-1. Clinched #2
  3. Kent 13-4. Clinched #3
  4. Toledo 10-7. Clinched #4
  5. OU 9-8. Win or BG loss, #5. Lose and BG win, #6.
  6. BG 8-9. Win and OU loss, #5. Win or Buffalo loss, #6. Lose and Buffalo win, #7.
  7. Buffalo 7-10.
Win and BG loss, #6. Win and BG win, #7

Now, with Ball St. and Central playing each other, if Buffalo loses, we’ll have 1 of 2 3-ways.

If Ball St. wins, Buffalo 3-1, UMass 2-2, Ball St. 1-3.
If Central wins, UMass 2-1, Central 1-1, Buffalo 1-2

  1. UMass 7-11. They’ll either be 7 or 8.
  2. Ball St. 6-11. They’re out.
  3. Central 6-11. They need that last scenario of them winning and Buffalo losing.

I want no part of UMASS again. Hoping the 8 seed is Central Michigan!!

BG beat Toledo once and lost to them by 1 the other meeting. OU got handled by Toledo twice. Would prefer BG to get the 5 seed.

And those game times are not projected. They are locked in now.

I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t prefer CMU/BG, but despite all our heart attacks I’d be confident with drawing UMass/Toledo still. Akron is the only MAC team that I truly fear. I’d welcome an upset over them in the quarters/semis but I don’t think anyone else is beating them on a neutral court.

We’ve seen the best shot from most every MAC team. Imagine if Akron were getting all of the attention and press for being unbeaten. They’d have had to deal with the hostile crowds and pressure. Instead, they have to a degree been able to do their thing quietly. Even then, they’ve stumbled against Troy and also had a close call.

As for the other MAC teams, we get who we get. The one game at a time approach will put us in the best position possible. We can beat OU and win the MAC tournament; forget the fear and work a day at a time. That is what has gotten us to this point.

And the women’s path would be 11 AM Wednesday, 10 AM Friday, 11 AM Saturday.

We’ve basically been playing the MAC tournament since November 3rd. Our next “MAC Tournament” game is Friday.

In what scenario do we play CMU?

CMU beats Ball State and Toledo beats Buffalo. Then Umass gets 7 seed and CMU gets 8.

That would be great

I’m always apprehensive when it comes to rooting to get a particular opponent. Be careful what you ask for.

I’m booked for Section 114 Row 1 in the semis and finals. No guarantees, but I expect to make good use of both tickets.

I know they have a new coach and an entirely new team - but last season Central needed a couple games to go their way and a win at NIU on the last Friday of the season to make Cleveland. Both of the other games went their way and then they proceeded to lose to last place NIU in a crazy double overtime game. NIU had 3 guys foul out and a freshman who had scored 5 points all season score 7 in the overtimes.

Maybe they will fare better this year.

As usual I haven’t planned well. I am going up to Cleveland for(hopefully) Friday and Saturday’s games. I will need 4 tickets.

I do not wish to sit on the baseline and I am hoping to avoid paying $300 per ticket for decent seats. I used to go to Cleveland with some regularity even during Miami’s lean years but it has been awhile. Does the market shake out at any point? I am assuming that after Thursday games fans of teams that have been knocked out look to dump. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Did you get your tickets through Miami? I have mine pre-ordered, but have not received official tickets yet.
