I don’t know how to react to a world in which Texas A&M makes rational hiring decisions, and LSU has turned into Gumbo Aggy.
I think Taylor was fired for cause. I doubt he sees a dime unless he files suit.
I think these insane guarantees will go the way of the dodo, though the huge yearly salaries may not. The people funding this generation of buyouts are VERY well aware that they can now spend money on rosters instead of paying coaches not to coach.
Another coach ? (the one and only Brian Kelly) hits a $50 MM ++ payoff and joins the growing list of America’s Most Desirable Job of being a fired P-5 head coach.
Let’s face it, there simply aren’t enough decent head coaches to fill all the voids of this season’s openings. As I figured out a long time ago when two teams meet on the gridiron, there will always be one loser and its folly to expect that equation to change….still, the deep-pocketed alums will line up to buy their next savior all to get bragging rites at their country club and a free ride on the team plane.
I have to wonder if one or more of these fired coaches takes the job of another fired coach. Simply put, who is going to fill all these open jobs.
I have to wonder when Ai will replace the head coach job. Imagine Alexa sitting on the sidelines wearing a tiny red sweater vest. True, the halftime speeches and post game interviews wouldn’t be as good. I joke, but I wonder if it’s actually possible.
If we finish the year strong, Chuck is going to have an opportunity to go somewhere bigger. Not the LSUs/Penn States/Floridas of the world, but somewhere a step or 2 below on the carousel. With all the movement that’s about to happen this offseason there’s going to be a a lot of openings…
Here is my prediction: unless the Notre Dame or Illinois jobs open, and are offered to him, Chuck Martin is not going anywhere, and that is for a number of reasons.
LSU OC Joe Sloan out this morning. The TE coach will take over coaching LSU.
I agree but I think I’d put Northwestern on that list, too. But the Wildcats are playing well under their new coach.
“These (12) schools just sold their homes. They’re ready to buy a new one. And they’re about to find out there are way more fixer-uppers than turnkey palaces.”

Rumors are circulating that James Franklin and Virginia Tech may soon reach an agreement.
That would probably work well for him. Less pressure and they probably won’t ever be IN the big game so he wouldn’t need to win it ![]()
Huh, would’ve thought that’s Shane Beamer’s job to lose…
The only reasons why this guy would POSSIBLY be considered as an option for LSU HC are:
- He lucked out and had Joe Burrow as his QB to win the National Championship;
- He is truly the Bayou-est Good Ol’ Boy Whomever Did Bayou
Please let this happen.
Mark Carney named full time head coach at Kent per Pete Thamel.
Surprised he’s got time to do that and be Prime Minister of Canada!
