It matters if you’re trying to get a 3 seed instead of a 4 seed. I haven’t looked at other conferences to see if that’s a risk, but once you get in the 70+ range or so it starts to be a concern.
That meh start really hurts now. Glad we’re in position to go dancing on our own accord, again.
16 teams get assigned to each seed. Looking at the lowest ranked actual or presumptive autobids, it could get dicey.
- (286) PVAMU
- (172) Morgan St
- (140) St Francis
- (135) Oakland
- (132) Canisius
- (130) Princeton
- (120) Fordham
- (114) UNCW
- (110) UMBC
- (104) Lehigh
- (92) Belmont or (94) Murray St
- (92) Villanova
- (80) GCU
- (73) Campbell
- (69) Miami
- (68) UNI
- (67) CSU Fullerton
- (64) UNCG
- (59) McNeese St
- (58) Loyola Marymount
- (50) Weber St
- (48) South Dakota St
- (47) North Texas
- (45) San Diego St
Some additional wrinkles:
- (68) UNI is currently leading 3-2 in a winner take all championship game. If they lose, that bid will be taken by (87) Missouri St.
- (64) UNCG is currently tied in extra innings of game 1. They need to win that game and another game later today or else the autobid goes to (180) Chattanooga.
- (104) Lehigh is currently leading 4-0 in a winner take all championship game. If they lose, that bid will go to (51) Boston U.
- Because of weather, the Summit tournament has only played one game so far. If (48) SDSU doesn’t win that tournament, the bid will go to a team significantly below us.
2 run dinger!!
Does BG have to beat Miami twice today? I keep just seeing promo for the one game…
Miami has to win one. BG has to win two.
Miami hit a couple homers to chase Gottshall from the game at 6-0. Just followed it up with a two run homer off the reliever. 8-0 in the second.
It’s now 11-0 going into the top of the fifth. Unless BG scores 4+ runs, this will be the last half inning.
Pull the starter one out from a complete game one hitter?
They brought in Vierstra for the final out to give her one last appearance at home. 11-0 final.
Graduating Champions!
Fantastic year! They will be a tough out in the NCAA tourney
We got some help elsewhere. Missouri St came back to beat UNI for the MVC championship, Chattanooga was able to get the win in extra innings for the SoCon championship, and Lehigh held on to win the Patriot League championship. That means that there will be at least 16 autobids going to teams below us in RPI. That doesn’t guarantee that the committee won’t screw us, but I feel much better about getting the 3 seed than I did at the start of the day.
Lots of Senior leadership. Two first line pitchers and experience in the NCAA regionals.
Selection show Sunday at 7. Looks like we might end up in Evanston, Blacksburg, Durham or Knoxville.
Looks like BG tried to ride Gottshall for too long. Thrilled we’re going dancing again! Yes, I hope we get a 3 seed, but this team has shown they can play with anyone. Multiple wins over ranked opponents, and they hung in there against a really good Alabama team in one of their meetings.
I agree. Seeding be damned. You gotta beat them all to move on. We probably can.
I would like us to go to Westwood please
Cal State Fullerton beat Long Beach State to win the Big West as expected. (The Beach winning would have been a help for our seeding.)
I’m hoping for Durham.
