Butler fires their head coach

Wow! Could Coach Steele end up there before today’s 1 pm presser? Lol

I believe Butler has a substantially deeper bank account than…Miami.

We are prolly lucky this opened now instead of a year or two from now…he might have jumped. (Assuming of course that he won’t jump now!). One thing going for us is that his family has lived in Cincinnati for 14 years and seems pretty entrenched there…prolly one of major factors that we got him.

I’m guessing Butler already asked him about coming back to Indy. Perhaps the family ties to the Cincy area worked to our advantage. What an embarrassment it would be for us if he jumped to the Bulldogs right now!

Jeff Boals supposed to be candidate, with Thad Matta’s push. Jordan’s buyout dropped today, Boals’ tomorrow.

Jonah perhaps?

Jonah NO. Jonas doubtful. Probably headed to Georgia State or associate head coach at X with Sean Miller.

I would love for Steele to have opportunities like this in 2 years. Would be a dream scenario for Miami fans.

If he’s good, selfishly prefer more like in 3 or 4 years…

I would not think Travis Steele would be on Butler’s list right now. Xavier fired him, at this point he has to prove himself to get another chance at the big time. His half brother John Groce or Jeff Boals would make more sense.

Guessing Boals…

Lavall Jordan now a candidate at Western Michigan? I see a pattern…

Butler hires Thad matta. Hiring old coaches so hot right now in the Midwest big east

How long is he going to last? I thought he medically retired at OSU.

This is a puzzling hire as he had been linked to so many big jobs over the years.

Chris Caputo hired by George Washington. He was an assistant at Miami for Jim Larranaga. He was with J.L. for 20 years, and is the last of Larranaga’s George Mason assistants to land a head coaching job. I wonder if Larranaga whispered in his ear that he (J.L.) is about to retire.

Here’s the story from the Indy Star

His issue was debilitating back pains. He was not even able to stand or walk around during practices his last year at OSU. A lot of people have them at some point in their life, but either through treatment, operations, or exercise programs many/most can eventually overcome them. I speak from experience as I had back problems in my early 50’s but have had no real issues for 20 years now. My guess would be that he feels much better now and is ready for a challenge. Former Miami assistant, by the way.
