2021-22 Basketball Coaching Carousel

If I remember correct, he and Miller were on staff under Sendek? That was a loaded deck of talent there.

Dick, I’m actually stunned Thad is returning. The issues with him was a failed back surgery that resulted in a dropped foot and it made it extremely painful for Thad to stand for long periods of time. That was in 2007.

Now, we both know that medicine does advance and get better. Maybe they found a procedure to fix what went wrong. But the back is a tricky thing.

For Thad’s sake, I honestly hope he has his health all in order and his family supports him for the job he’s about to take on.

Sendek HC, assistants Miller, Matta, and Coles, with DOBO Jim Christian

Wow! Even better than I remembered. (But that may be because of 24/7Tecmo bowl

Digital Hawk probably won’t like this, but I think all 4 of Herb’s assistants ended up with more NCAA bids than Herb has had since he left Miami.

Herb has a tremendous tree/bush/shrub depending on your take. I say tree and wow, he’s impacted so many. I met him my freshman year and he was a class act. I hope it happens again. We live close enough now to make it happen.

Those guys were nothing before me.

Looks like MSU associate head coach Dwayne Stephens is the choice at WMU? 19 years with Izzo.

Jonas Hayes to be named hc at Georgia State.

Danyil Robinson, asst. at Iowa State, thought to be next hc at Cleveland St.

Steve Lavin returning to the University of San Diego

And the Steve Lavin downward career trajectory continues…

The west coast conference has some big names and programs for a mid major

My Steve Lavin story. Years ago I watched Ball State beat his UCLA team in some early season holiday tournament. At the time it was a huge upset and a bad loss. In the handshake line, he took the time to speak to each Ball State player. He could have stalked off the court or zipped through the line, ignoring everyone. I’ve been a Lavin fan since.

Bill Comar is a former Miami guy. I knew him well. Good dude.

I still chuckle when I remember hearing someone (don’t recall who) refer to Tommy Tuberville as “The Benjamin Button of college football coaches”.

I don’t know either man, but their career arcs look similar.

Comar is a great pick-up. I’m fact, on paper, the Ball State staff is terrific.

Look at Bill’s title- Assistant Athletic Director for Basketball Administration

Love it

I am proud to have known Bill when he was a grad assistant. He was very bright and you knew he’d be successful. You will hear his name one day soon as a head coach. If he wants it.

Ryan Pedon completes his staff with hire of Rob Judson. Process took five weeks from date of his hiring.
