He was Jim Larranaga‘s assistant at George Mason. He is a good X’s & O’s guy, and a genuinely nice person. He did well at La. Tech And it is nice to see him be rewarded.

Dane Fife is out as the top assistant at Indiana because apparently he and Mike Woodson struggled to work together.

Hot Prospect: Takayo Siddle at UNCW. Turned the program around completely in two seasons. Regular season CAA champs this year and lost to Delaware in the finals. Went on to win the CBI championship. A Kevin Keats protege.
Watched that game last night -wild! Only drawback is all his experience is in North Carolina.

Probably wouldn’t be interested. Might be interested in an A10 job - Richmond, VCU or Davidson if McKillop ever retires. Interesting example though of not needing five years to turn a program around. Will probably stay next year, try to make a another impressive run and then move up.

The winner of “show me the quick turn-around results you spoke of in our interview process” 2022 winner has got to be the Iowa State coach. They won 2 games last year and are in the sweet 16!

TJ Otzelberger did an unbelievable job at ISU.
Of note, he was less than .500 in two years at UNLV after a nice run at South Dakota State replacing Scott Nagy.
He replaced a guy who was fired after going .500 in three years at UNLV.
If he had stayed at UNLV and had a .500 season this year would he have been fired? Pretty high expectations at Las Vegas.
He could end up being coach of the year at Iowa State.
It is a fickle profession.

Indeed it is. There are only so many openings for head coaches and the pay is better even at the low end than the average person makes. That’s why I think Oxford can be a desirable place to go. Close access to two big cities and a ton of teams within 5 hours or less drive yo play.
