Where does Brett rank among all-time Miami QBs?

I didn’t realize that Chuck Hauck went from being a 170 lb. college qb to being an offensive lineman for the Packers!

Larry also led Miami to a MAC title in 1977 season, along w a 10-1 record, which included wins over Indiana and Ivy League champ Yale.

This was during the 3-4 year time period after the Tangerine Bowl MAC slot and before the new California Bowl in 1981. So, although there was some talk of Miami getting a bowl bid, there were only a handful of bowls back then and it didn’t happen. IIRC, Fortner was top ten in passing efficiency rating that season.

I believe Miami was #10 in a Playboy preseason poll before his senior year.

I went back and looked it up…Fortner was 5th in the country in passing efficiency in 1977.

The first time we beat Purdue-1962!

They converted Gearing to a DE. It was pretty good at it.

Morris Beat LSU!

I will not say that Mr. Hendrix was one of the 10 best college quarterbacks the year he was here. I will say that I doubt that there were 10 college quarterbacks that could have done a better job for us that year.

I was there! Having grown up in Lafayette with my Dad who had Purdue season football & basketball tickets.

Morris definitely a top ten…so hard to compare eras.

My top ten would be:
(And not in order except for Ben being #1):

Ben

Sherm Smith
Gabbert
Morris
Dysert
Kellerman
Bath
Fortner
Betts
Raudabaugh

Only played one year but you could make an argument for Hendrix despite the terrible team and coaching around him.

I cancelled my subscription, but my credit card is still being charged. I called customer service, but only got a robot with an AI-generated foreign accent.

1 - Roethlisberger
2 - Dysert
3 - Gabbert/Betts
5 - Hendrix
6 - Morris/Bath

The subscription stops, the payment lasts forever.

Not sure how you can put Hendrix above Morris and Bath. No doubt Hendrix had talent and was gritty in his one seasons starting at Miami.

Because it’s my list and I say so. That’s how!

Well, in that case, be my guest!

He was a 12th round draft choice of the Dolphins. Spent a year on Miami’s practice squad and a year on Atlanta’s. Never played in a regular season NFL game.

I’d be careful casting stones after putting Raudabaugh over Hendrix. Anyone close to the '13 team knows they would be a bad FCS team. Hendrix came in the following year with no line, one receiver (Murphy and Martin were both underclassmen coming off knee injuries), no ground game, and he somehow turned them into a mediocre FBS team.

What stones? I didn’t knock Hendrix nor argue w Bash on specifics about his choice. I gave accolades to Hendrix’s grit and ability. Reasonable people can disagree on a list that doesn’t really matter…

2-10 with a nail biting win over UMass isn’t mediocre. It’s bad, very bad.

Raudabaugh does not belong on this list. He had a great pro career but I could come up with probably 50 quarterbacks who had better Miami careers.
