We should have beat Buffalo today!

Maybe. Also could be he doesn’t trust #2. With Gabbert in we throw the ball in the end zone.

Aveon will likely transfer. Gabbert has a year left and I doubt Smith wants to play back up after starting. Hesson or Humphreys is our future.

I would try to convert him to a running back to keep him on the field if Brett comes back.

My sports background is basketball and baseball, so I am happy to defer thoughts to others here regarding our coach’s football philosophy…I for one am completely baffled that Chuck hasn’t inserted Hesson a series or two at a minimum…it is more than apparent that Aveon is a great runner and maybe should be moved to running back…but I don’t see anything in his mechanics to lead me to believe he can be a particularly effective passer.

He’s definitely tough. I hate to bash the guy. Not here to do that. However, he is not the answer at QB. Hopefully we have something better on the bench.

Also, in Aveon’s defense, despite the INT and inability to pass effectively, we should have won that game regardless! Aveon’s running was fantastic, and he deserves credit for that…love the way he sees the field when he gets past the line of scrimmage…a real natural at running the ball .

The loss can be primarily tagged to the untimely penalties and poor play calling in the red zone…we should have had 31 points or 27 at the least.

I just think he’s a running back being thrust into the QB position.

Kent’s D is ranked #118 in FBS. NO reason not to try other QBs Saturday. D allowing a 83 yard drive to lose the game also shares blame for the loss.

Tough to lose a game with 240 rush yards and with the Bulls under 300 total yards.

OU, Akron, BG, and BSU should all be wins . So still a chance for a decent year but not the season had hoped for.

Perhaps, but we are not a bystander in the process. If we have a glaring need at QB we can attract a transfer to fill it - offering a backup role to an injury prone starter isn’t an awful sell. Not like Oxford is a lousy place to live for a year or two.

You have to take into account that #118 ranking is largely based on road trips to Washington, Oklahoma and Georgia. They held their own at UGA, suffocated their FCS opponent and survived their “decompression” homecoming game with Ohio.

Our defense has been good. But if we can’t score, we can’t win. And we’ve played four FBS games and only hit the 20 point mark once.

I just looked up Hesson and Humphreys on Max Preps. Very similar passing stats Hesson had 6,300 yards. 70 TDS 22 int’s, 672 yards rushing 9 TDS. Humphreys had 6,800 yards 80 TDs 22 int’s but look at this. He had 1,367 yards rushing and 31 tds. Those guys were productive in high school. Humphreys was rated #56 QB in the country. Hesson was ranked #130. Give Henry a shot. What would it hurt. Humphreys probably too green being a true freshman.

It’s a dilemma, especially for the QB position where only one plays regularly unless you get incompetence or an injury. The right transfer might help but it also serves to drive off guys you have in your room and dissuades talented high school recruits from coming to your campus.

I would not look for a transfer until I try the guys I have. Just me.

And McLeod was impressive playing in a highly competitive conference in Northern California. I think all three of them have a lot of potential.

Couldn’t get much worse that’s for sure.

Keep in mind that Brett Gabbert started for Miami as a true freshman…and on the road against a better Iowa team than this year’s version.

One other point: If Miami holds REAL pressers for their FB coach on Monday, why hasn’t anyone asked him about the development of the other QBs on the team…or why he hasn’t played them.

Instead, they all sound like love fests…wink-wink.
