Yeah, we need a plan for life after Brett.
Hopefully we can use the portal and find someone with our new Collective!
CM would vehemently disagree
Unless itās a transfer from ND like Hendrix
He was an excellent talent. Would have done well with a better team.
Or, letās see what we have in the locker room first. I like Henry. I have never been in the Kopp camp. What about Gotkowski? Letās see what he can do. But, we all know CM does not play his backup QBs. I would be shocked if we see anyone other than Henry.
Iād be delighted to see Henry. Heās put in the time and Iām more than sure he can play. Others are tbd. Iāll say this all year and be 100% fine with being told Iām wrong, but we can win with with a 2 QB system. I mean, what if Brett has a gift with calling plays and just needs a muse to channel? He canāt move anymore (well at least not fast) but heās super smart. Why is this idea not even being considered?
Go to the 4:12 mark of this video. It is where Gabbert starts. He doesnāt sugar coat how badly he has been playing. He mentions it several times. He knows he hasnāt been good, he has to be better. At least give him credit for taking responsibility for his poor play.
I thought the exact same thing when I listened to the interview. You have to love the guy.
I think that for the Miami team which Hendrix led there werenāt a half dozen college quarterbacks who could have done better.
That was Chuckās first year and the overall talent quotient on offense was not high. Hendrix made great decisions. He made far fewer turnoverrs than the amount of pressure he was under would of dictated and he made a lot of great throws. I believe a lot of ābetterā college quarterbacks would have failed with that team.
We were instantly a tough, competitive team which we were not the year before. Obviously Coach Martin deserves a lot of credit for a cultural change but I think Mr. Hendrix was a large part of delivering the results that give a new staff credibility.
He took a beating that year that I wouldnāt wish on my worst enemy. He should have won the Heisman just for surviving that season.
For once, I disagree with my man DICK. Until we lose a 7th game, heās our guy. After all that heās given to the program, you donāt treat him like that.
Yeah, until weāre mathematically eliminated from a MAC Championship Brett is QB1.
Assuming he can play at a high enough level to get us there. Thatās the key imo.
And Gotkowski, who probably thought he was being recruited to be QB1, will hop in the portal. QB management is quite challenging now.
It sounds like weāre pretty beat up after the ND and UMass games. Looks like a number if MAC teams didnāt file the mandatory availability reports last weekend. I found only Akron and Ball State on the crummy MAC web pages.
Chuck said we had about six starters and backups - including Coldiron - out Saturday and we might have lost Borders and Strader and possibly another one after UMass.
Starting to look somewhat like that 3-8 Dick Crum team that turned itself into a MASH unit in 1976 after the Top 15 run in 1975. .
Iād like to think with Gabbert 100% done after this season he will at least stick it out 1 more year to try win the starting job that will be very much up in the air
On the injury report they all ended up doing it. When the MAC first sent the tweet only the noon games were listed. But by 3pm Miami and all the rest were on there
Coach Martin said we were down 4 starters before the game but he is counting our kickoff specialist as one of those guys- the other ones being Coldiron- Blakely - Suttle
I actually thought losing Strader and Borders and at times Ugwu in the Umass game was more impactful then the guys we lost in practice or the ND game
Update: Itās popping up now this morning.
I canāt find the updated reports on the MAC site. I canāt believe how much the MACās platform seems to be like a 2010 era site.
