Toledo men at Miami 7:00 Tuesday on ESPN+

How did last night’s stats sheet stack up to what’s previously listed? I’ve got Toledo with 22 or 34 from 2-point range for 64.7%

Offensively for Toledo, pretty much followed their standard MO for shot selection, but made at a higher than average rate.

Offensively for Miami… Ugh. Shot layups at under 45%.

One of the more amazing stats I have ever seen was the shooting percentages of the 5 Toledo subs. They were 13 of 15 from the floor and 4 of 5 from three. Never seen anything like that.

As for our horribleness, our veterans ( 3 Seniors and 1 Junior, all transfer portal guys) were 4 for 22 from the floor, with all the makes coming very late in the game, mostly against Toledo subs.

I was at the game too. With Dayton fans. We could not get the ball to go in…very similar to what I saw last night in the first half. Not to the same degree but eerily similar. Both were 37 and 34 point losses (and it very easily could have been 37 or 40 loss had Dean not drained two 3s during the last minute). And both games had 2 Miami starters (and regular high point scorers) who had zero points (Shorts/Davis and Hunter/Bultman). Similar.

Disappointed Steele didn’t throw in the Fab 5 when the game got out of control. Would have been fun to watch all of them play together at the same time.

Our D in the paint needs a lot of work, our rebounding is not close to what it should be, we do not know how to use the glass for many of our shoots, we frequently look completely disorganized on O , and against skilled teams like Toledo we unfortunately are going to have to play more zone. We also lack mental composure on the floor with way too many unnecessary fouls. Consistency is the mark of a good team - we are not there.

Quick, physical teams who challenge the entry pass into the high post has Miami pushing start of offense out to far. Disappointing at home coming off 3 game win streak. Important to see the effort and execution on Friday

Travis’ presser was interesting.

Last night’s game and that UD/Miami game can’t be compared for the simple fact that we weren’t even a week removed from coming back from Hawaii and were playing on dead legs. I was there as well and I don’t remember us coming out not ready to play like last night.

Yes they can, especially the first half. Coles threw his entire bench into the game in an effort to spark scoring that night (he played 13 players, and he usually had a 7-8 man rotation). Alex and Doug were #1 and #2 on the team for scoring that year and went 0-19 that game (Hunter and Bultman are #1 and #3 respectively and didn’t score a point). Danny Horace missed a ton of easy put backs. There was a force field around the rim that night. That team ended the year 13-18. The tired legs argument doesn’t fly. It was only the 11th game of the season for both teams. Miami was 7 days post the Rainbow classic. It was winter break and school was not in session. It was an hour bus ride from Oxford to Dayton. And they were 20 years old…they could eat gun powder then go run a marathon. We went ice cold. It happens. 2001 Dayton-esque.

that would have resulted in an explosive performance
