Most fun at a Miami hoops game in a while. Especially first half. Need to keep it up.
Essentially talking smack to the Toledo guy guarding him.
So, technically taunting? If so, not very smart.
If he is going to drop 40, he can talk all of the crap that he wants.
It was a weak technical (without knowing what was said) as he had a grin, didnāt get in the guys face, and was backpedaling downcourt away from him.
Gotcha
Point of emphasis. The ref who called it was very proud of himself.
Totally agree. Twenty years?
Sounds like the staff didnāt get an answer for his tech or Woolfolkās. The officials have got to learn to communicate better. The way games are called just flips at halftime and the refs shut down any conversation.
Thereās this and the one in Daytona Beach I think.
Well, thereās that which is somewhat encouraging. In reading the article it would appear that they are looking to mostly fill their slots from Power conference teams that declined the NIT.
That would appear to open up some NIT slots.I think there is another post season tournament besides these. We played in one a few seasons ago - maybe a loss at Campbell?
Isnāt the CBI still operating?
The problem with the CBI and CIT is those cost money to host games - so those are hard to justify. I am not sure if either exist any longer
I almost never become angry or negative toward officials. Itās just what it is. But the MAC refs this season have been horrible. Several games I have really gone postal on them. Some of those guys look like high school refs, with no insult to high school refs. But it really has been ugly. 40-45+ fouls in a 40 minute game? One a minute? They often change their call decisions in a half to tight or loose with no reason for a change on what is or is not a foul. Is a real negative this season.
The other night, with Kamās T and maybe more yapping back and forth, the refs probably panicked a bit and really clamped down.
As a general observation, I feel like itās harder in the last five years or so for refs to let a physical game happen but keep it under control. Everything is either a whistle-fest or tackle football, with nothing in between (and as you noted, it may go from tackle football to whistle-fest or vise versa in the same game). A lot of coaches being absolute maniacs certainly doesnāt help matters. It takes a very good ref to manage a physical game these days, and those refs are getting much higher assignments than MAC games.
CBI 2025: Schedule - College Basketball Invitational
and the CIT 2025: https://www.collegeinsider.com/tournament/schedule-results.php
Well maybe there are other places for us after all (unless we win the MAC tourney of course).
Basketball in the SECā¦and Iāve seen a number of their gamesāis open warfare. Lots of plays that would draw fouls in the NFLā¦or cage matches. Thatās part of why the NCAAs have become what they areā¦and itās hard to really call it basketball any more.
If form holds, thereās a good chance Miami will face Toledo again in the semis in Cleveland.
