The beat the Fighting Manninos (Colo. College) thread

We lose the challenge…as others have noted we noticably ran out of gas in the 3rd. Bummer.

I tuned it in at the start of 3rd period and stayed to the end. I got what I deserved

Tough loss. We gave a good accounting of ourselves tonight. Have to avoid being blown out 5-1 tomorrow night.

As the 3rd period progressed, you could just feel that CC was gonna eventually score as we had zero offense the entire period. We just ran out gas.

All the loose pucks that we were getting to first for most of the game were going to CC there at the end. I couldn’t see a replay of the goal to see if there was anything to challenge, but we didn’t have anything left to lose at that point, so why not?

Of note, the Miami scratches were sitting near us and Logan Neaton is sporting a boot on his right leg. :grimacing:

Berge said barbolini got injured at the end of the second period which makes sense given the fact we lost all offense in the 3rd

I saw the boot from the pictures from Berges Bistro and i was surprised/glad he wasn’t in some sort of knee brace and it was just a boot. From the looks of what happened last week I thought it would be an acl/MCL tear but the broadcast said he’s week to week so it’s probably not the worst case scenario.

Also there was no chance that goal was offsides, it wasn’t even close. I’d understand more if we hadn’t used our time out already so we wouldn’t be down a man. I personally would have rather seen certain 6 on 5 time with over a minute and a half left to go and I feel like we would have had a good chance of scoring because they created chances with the goalie pulled at 5 on 5 but that just wasn’t enough.

I talked to someone in the press box who said it was a lot closer on the off-side than any angle we saw on CBS. But yeah, I totally agree I’d take my chances on a 6-on-5 if it was a longshot.

Okay that makes more sense because they looked at it for a looong time.

I think the offsides maybe the skater at the far end of the ice was closer to offsides than the one who got the puck that they were showing? I’m fine with that decision to challenge, though we did get some good pressure at the end that might have gone even better with an extra man.

The great game from Bruveris shouldn’t be overlooked. 28 saves and a couple impressive ones in there.

Bruno has still never let in a goal in a game Miami has won!

He made some great saves, the defense was also pretty good most of the game keeping shots to the outside and we had a lot of blocked shots again tonight, 20 spread out among a lot of players

SO many blocked shots! And they sounded like they hurt, lol.

I watched the first two periods and the first 6 minutes of the third and went to bed as we looked slow and I needed to get up early and I didn’t want to watch another late collapse.

I don’t comment much on hockey, but it is pretty sad when losing a conference game but not getting blown out is now “a good showing”. As a casual fan, who did go to a game this year, this program has truly bottomed out.

I think we bottomed out last year. We are still nowhere near where we want to be record wise but it seems this team is better than what we’ve been seeing. Not suggesting there won’t be changes if the record at the end of the year doesn’t improve but we seem like we have in fact improved. I might be wrong here as I lack the nuance in hockey and or life others have on this board.

I recorded the game last night. Just finished watching it. Well that was a bummer of an ending.

Watching it, I thought, “Damn. It used to be really big when we were playing the Friday night games on CBS Sports. And it’s be so damn long since our CBSSN appearances have felt like a big deal.”

So I was curious and opened the Miami Hockey record book. We haven’t had a winning season since 2014-2015. We have only won 10 or more games 3 times since then. 10, 11, and 15 games. Other than that only single digit wins. To the casual fan, this program is horrible.

I agree. It felt like last year there were lots of 7-1, 8-0, etc games and every other night some guy was scoring his third hat trick against us. We’re still losing in conference but not nearly as badly.

Which is basically what bluesman said😂

Also, CBS sports got a much better game this year out of us than they did last year lol

And again, while only a casual fan, why can’t we compete in this conference we are in? I keep seeing we need to move to an “easier” conference. Why can’t we complete. Can’t be facilities.
