=>TV said the game would be either 11:00 or 1:30. But the website says the championship is 1:30.

AW almost had a double double. 3 dudes in high double points. Looks good from the box score.

Consolation is at 11.

I’m guessing Jacksonville wins and will be our opponent tomorrow. If so, will be a good test. They currently sit inside the top-150 at kenpom.com

I went to the UncleKen’s link and candidly, I admire his range of premium salad dressings more than his ratings. Akron is at 132 and we are 209? I don’t imagine there’s that big a gap. Some of his top 150 teams are not good. Ken. Ken. Ken. Ken. That said, after this loss, I would think the Saints would be marching out of the 200’s but then I looked and realized they are 309. They seem better than that based on their 3 wins…

Box score says Cooper, Ipsaro, and Skaljac only had one combined shot attempt. Did they just not play much?

This.

Happy with the win. No idea how good Siena is.

But getting goose eggs from our point guards on one shot in a combined 51 minutes isn’t sustainable. Luke only played ten minutes. Ipsaro only played 16. Maybe the analytics say something else (Jive can jump in if that’s the case) but we are basically playing four on five when Cooper is out there which is more than half the game usually. Has to change.

I agree we need some type of scoring from our PG spot.

I watched the game and Siena was in a zone for a large majority of it and our PGs did a decent job of moving the ball and ultimately getting it to Craft/Elmer/Suder/Bryant for 3s. They had 7 assists to 2 turnovers in the game, combined, which at least isn’t bad.

Even though the point guard position has been a disappointment this year, I am confident one of those 3 guys will eventually emerge. Just have to remind ourselves how young they are, but the raw talent seems to be there.

The bright spot for me during the first 5 games has been the talent and consistency of our core 4 in Kraft, Elmer, Suder and Woolfork. I trust all 4 of those guys will bring it every night, especially if Elmer and Woolfork can stay out of foul trouble.

I am happy with a 12 point win vs Siena. I didnt watch but the stays would suggest rebounding was a key

That was Travis steeles 100th win as a coach

=>PGs were fine. Cooper (4/1) and Ipsaro (2/0) combined for 6 to 1 assist/turnover ratio in 39 combined minutes. If primary ballhandlers have 1 turnover in a game you are doing alright.

0 points is okay if they are not shooting it. Instead they were getting the balls to the shooters. If Cooper/Ipsaro combined for 0 points on 13 shots then there would be an issue.

The two of them combined for 6 rebounds as well which is always a plus for the shortest players who are hanging out on the perimeter.

Our core four of Elmer, Craft, Suder and Woolfolk are playing well and will be very good players for conference play. As for the PG spot–I am confused. Cooper is playing the most minutes (23/game) and he is just not doing much of anything, especially on offense. Ipsaro has been more productive but only playing 17 min/game. He has offensive limitations but good things happen on both ends when he’s in games so far this year. Cooper is 5-22FG and 2-11 3PT and has scored 2 points the last three games combined. Ipsaro is 7-15FG and 3-6 3PT on the season. These have been the two PG this season. Skaljac was brought in as a PG, but he has rarely played the position other than last couple minutes v Michigan. He has been at SG when in the game (8-12FG, 4-5 3PT in 14 min/game) which may not play to his strengths but perhaps coaches see this as a way to get all of them some minutes since Cooper/Ipsaro are solely PG type players and can’t play SG? Curious how things play out at PG but based on results so far, I think change has to be discussed.
Other rotational players: Byers is getting about 15 minutes a game as well at the wing and especially when Elmer gets in foul trouble but he is ice cold shooting. 8-28FG and 2-17 3PT. He’s a freshman so hopefully he gets his shot going as season progresses.
Potter had a couple of decent moments today but he is still a long ways away from being in shape and ready to provide big input. I think he had two or three shots blocked in the key today. Patience with him recovering from summer back surgery is needed. As Potter comes back, Kotecki spot in rotation is likely to be very limited.
Let’s try and get another win tomorrow–both of those teams are physically strong and have some talent. A 4-2 month of November would be a very good start to the season.

I guess my counter would be it was fine today, but it’s been a trend all season and for the team to thrive long term one of them is going to have to emerge as a viable scoring option.

Today was our fifth game. They’ll be fine.

None of them need to lead the team in scoring, and if any did, I’d be concerned.

Skaljac is the scorer of them. Ipsaro has always been a facilitator. All 3 can drop 10 if needed. All have already or come close.

The goal is to not let defenses just sag on them, which isn’t what’s happening.

Jacksonville vs Mercer going to OT. Miami plays the winner tomorrow
