Happy Selection Sunday to all of those who celebrate.
Haven’t had this kind of nervous dread feeling since 2005…
I can one hope that celebrate is the correct word. If the committee screws us over I shall be miffed to a great degree.
We’re good. Positive vibes only.
Sackman prediction: 9 seed vs 8 Iowa in Greenville with the vile Duke waiting
The loss on Thursday is still enraging me beyond belief, especially since the mantra for the year has been “unfinished business” and we got beat around left and right Thursday only to still have unfinished business. Don’t want a play in game to prove we belong. @YellowNumber5 I need your soothsaying optimism.
Putting me on the spot, eh? Personally, I’d like to see them assigned to Philly because I think that’s the only tourney site I could reasonably hope to attend in person.
I think we will be an 11 but not in the play in games. Might be wishful thinking.
I want Louisville or Kentucky, I want teams that don’t dominate down low and shoot more. I really don’t want Tennessee or BYU any team with a crazy athlete PF, I’m not sure who we would match up against them.
Manifesting this energy
Since UD won yesterday, I’ve settled on probably being in Dayton. If we are there, pack the joint and get a tourney win.
I think if Dayton wins Miami ends up in the First Four. Ironic but I am torn if this is good or bad. I think our chances are higher for a win if we end up playing in First Four. I also think our chances of making it to the 2nd weekend is higher as well.
I agree that making the tournament will be a great accomplishment. But really feel like we need to win at least one game to validate the critics.
Only time will tell but this team deserves all the press no matter how the season ends.
There is zero chance we are a 9 seed. This isn’t negativity. This is reality. I can definitely see us as an 11 seed.
I thought we’d win against UMass. I really did. So there’s that. But then I started thinking maybe Dick had to pick his horse (the ladies) because he knew we were already in and unless they won the tourney, they wouldn’t be. I think we get in and do really well.
This is “Through The LookingGlass” stuff.
Per the NCAA: You could suck for the entire year, have a combo of getting hot/other teams having a bad game, and you win 3 in a row, and thus you are more qualified than a team that never lost in the entire season, was ranked Top 20 and is on the bubble.
Oh, and another team that lost 10 games is also better.
o_O ???
Someone in front of me at church this morning turned around, saw my Miami jacket and said, “They better get in or my friends and I will swear off the NCAA tournament.”
Probably unlikely, but hoping for San Diego since I’ll be there for work. Or at very least a Fri/Sun schedule.
Made this point previously, but I think the political situation will make a First Four date the most likely destination. The committee should evaluate resumes independent of outside influence, but imo they don’t want the blowback of snubbing us. That said it’s easier to say “go to Dayton and prove yourself” than giving us an outright bid, and it’s basically consistent with the mock committee a few weeks ago.
I’m glad the church is on our side because the NCAA Selection Committee is the DEVIL!!!
Dayton gives the committee a perfect cover. They can stash us lower than we deserve, but then say “oh they’re close to Oxford and everyone can go see them”. Hope I’m wrong.
