Road to the MAC Championship Game

At this point, we’re venerating famous alumni who just so happened to touch the program in some way (looking at you Harby)

By the MACs rules, head to head is only used if all tied teams played each other. So if we are tied with only Toledo, we lose due to head to head. If we tied only with OU, we lose again (but this isn’t possible because we are guaranteed tied with Toledo or CMU as well).

Because OU didn’t play Toledo, the MAC skips head to head in any 3 way tie involving them and the first tie breaker becomes common opponents and they both lost to WMU and we beat WMU, so we win that. Had Toledo and OU played each other this year, then it would use head to head and we’d lose.

Some conferences will use head to head even if not all teams tied played, but the MAC does not elect to do that.

This makes absolutely no sense to me, but it improves Miami’s chances while making OU fans angry, so I now think it’s the best rule ever.

This thread is destined to be one of the greats in MHT annals.

Don’t lose to a team with a losing record and this isn’t a problem for either Toledo or OU.

And while it technically doesn’t directly impact the tiebreakers, we do currently have the best resume of the 5-2 squads. We beat 6-1 WMU and our two losses are to other 5-2 teams. OU, Toledo, and CMU all lost to WMU and each one lost to a team with an inferior conference record. We also didn’t get the benefit of playing winless UMass (OU and CMU did).

Proof that I’m a sicko: I’m watching the BG/UMass game that just started a few minutes ago.

Related question: why is the MAC playing a regular season game that started at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Tuesday?

ESPNU has one of those MTEs at the regular MACtion time on EspnU so UMass opted to play this now instead of being on espn+ at a regular time

The line on wmu vs emu is up to 9.5. Was much lower earlier this week

Eh, it would probably be better for UMass to be seen only on ESPN+.

=>You can, but make sure you are alone.

Bowling Green hasn’t had a pulse since their hilarious win over Toledo yet they’re up 28-0 and haven’t broken a sweat yet.

This shows how bad UMass is

At least I know we don’t give a shit about who wins the BG/UMASS game!

It’s raining in Amherst. That sounds familiar.

Touchdown, EMU!

EMU completes a 99-yard drive on the 2nd series to take the 7-0 lead.

Eeeeeeeeagles

Another long run by EMU.

Western pick kills scoring drive.

I actually really admire what the EMU coach has done there. Football was on life support and he got them very respectable. Some nice wins along the way as well.
