If Toledo beat ball state this weekend I think our odds probably shoot up to that
=>And that was yesterday before we won the game!
You are fake news!
=>Yo momma
To summarize, Miami lost to both Ohio U and Toledo and has the same number of conference losses as each of them but now stands a better chance of making it to the championship game than either of them.
Never change, MACTION. Never change.
There’s no perfect solution to no division, unbalanced schedules.
We played the toughest MAC schedule. We were the only team to beat first place WMU. We have no “bad” loses, only losses to other X-2 teams.
It’ll still feel a bit weird if we end in that specific 3 way tie and advance but maybe UT shouldn’t have lost to a miserable BG team and OU shouldn’t have lost to a miserable Ball state team (currently a 28.5 pt dog to Toledo this weekend)
The classic Chuck Martin model of beat the teams you should beat is perfect for the 3 way tiebreakers
I hate to even predict because it is the MAC and strange things happen but I do not see Toledo losing to either opponent and OU wins last game for sure. Touchdown Tommy and lucky Chuck lead us past Ball State and see you in Detroit.
I should put all those in a parlay I feel so good about it. But I don’t gamble so there is a tip for someone who does.
There have been some absolute crazy upsets over the years in the final week of MAC play. WMU absolutely should flatten emu but I’ve seen stranger upsets to ruin a season.
For the legacy EDSBS crowd, I always describe MACTION as being crazier than a sackful of rabid weasels.
UT/OU don’t have much of a platform to complain when they lost games to BG/Ball State.
Emu beating WMU would be big for our odds to get to Detroit but then there’s a chance we play Ohio in Detroit (maybe even Toledo) which I would not want
Same. Not because I fear OU, but because I’d rather be able to call Devil Bro during the MACC to ask if he’s watching and can tell me why the Bobcats aren’t there.
Had to do a quick update to my magic sheet to make updating win chances easy, but I can now confirm that magic sheet says we have a 76% chance of making Detroit if Toledo wins and a 56.53% chance if Ball State wins.
So if you trust the ensuing ESPN win chance numbers, we are rooting for Toledo this weekend.
“Lowest, you da man”!
With whatever was going on with Chuck’s EX QB for the last week or two he’s done a Hell of a
Job to right the ship, and keep moving forward! Even got run over on the sideline and explained
That’s why he was a D3 free safety… you could avoid big hits! ( last nights hit was his worst ever).
Start up donations for a Statue!
A statue for a guy with an overall record around .500 and an abysmal OOC record? Chuck couldn’t carry the whistle of any of the coaches enshrined on the plaza.
Well unlike most of the other guys with statues, Chuck’s accomplishments are actually with Miami as opposed to with other schools or pro teams. That has to be worth something
Chuck’s best accomplishments are at Grand Valley State, are they not?
Chuck has had a really good career, but it’s not statue-worthy. A number of terrific coaches like Crum, Walker, or Hoeppner don’t have cradle statues, he’s probably going in that group.
