Reds on a roll! Worst hitting team in majors but find ways to win! Great pitching and lately some patient and timely hitting as well!
“Willie Mays Nayes”!
I am not the only questioning Hayes in the lineup. Many national MLB writers are as well. Hopefully he continues to produce. Reds do have options though.
What makes this Reds start even more impressive is they are doing it without 2 of their top starters Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo. Hopefully they come back soon as the Reds bullpen is really having to work a lot.
Lodolo threw yesterday a 3-inning simulated game, and will pitch Sunday for the Dayton Dragons and hope to go 4.
Greene has resumed throwing.
Awesome.

It seemed like de la Cruz took a long time to circle the bases on that home run, so I re-wound it and hit my stopwatch. 33.3 seconds from contact to touching the plate. Now, I’m not exactly sure when they measure the beginning of a home run trot, but Google tells me the slowest home run trot in the stat cast era is 34.2 seconds.
No sense pulling a hammy speeding around the bases.
Reds bats seem to be heating up! Stewart a beast batting cleanup! Now in first place all alone as Cubs lose to Dodgers.
De la Cruz with a heck of a game so far. Almost every Red has a hit
Holy Elly
When the Tigers were in Cincy last weekend (frustrating series for me), Jason Benetti noted that over the last three seasons, the Reds play .630 ball when Elly steals at least one base. To steal a phrase from Reggie Jackson, he is “the straw that stirs the drink.” The entire Reds offense puts more pressure on opposing pitchers and defenses when Elly has it going.
This before May stuff you hear a lot of can be deceiving because the season starts significantly earlier now than “back in the day”.![]()
All NL central teams remain over .500. This will be a slugfest all season
Correct. Saw a post that showed like 7-8 players have had 10+ HR and 8+ SB in the first 30 games… including Eric Davis in 1987.
