=>WBC MVP Eugenio Suarez to lead Reds to the World Series.
I like that every article I’ve read about Suarez to Cincy ignores that he played there before - the national articles anyway.
There’s a lot to like about this 2026 Opening Day roster. There’s also a lot of guys that need to prove themselves.
Haven’t seen anyone or any projection put us higher than third but if the roster plays up to their potential I think we have a solid shot at the playoffs.
I think McLain will come back into form, and Elly will hopefully improve after an injury-caused disappointment of a season. Add in Geno, and I think the offense will be much improved compared to last year. SP is looking a bit rough to start the year thanks to injuries, but the pen has some new faces who will hopefully keep the holdovers more fresh down the stretch. I think there will be a slight improvement over last year’s record, and playoffs as well.
=>Great job Pagan.

Suarez crushed this!!

Reds take series and Greene, Lodolo and Burns don’t even pitch.
Reds hitting .169 as a team but Suarez made his one hit today count! I don’t think Reds Mgt cares if he only hits .230 if he bangs out 40 homers w some timely game winning hits!
P.S. Sal Stewart off to a phenomenal start in the clean up spot!
Hunter Greene is done. He spends more time on the DL than active. Waste of money
Agree
While Greece’s injuries are very frustrating, especially this most recent one, where his elbow discomfort started last September but the doctors called for an injection instead of surgery (obviously the wrong decision), he’s still a great value.
Greene compiled 3 or 4 WAR last season depending on Fangraphs or Baseball Reference. Each WAR is $8 or $9 million of value, so Greene was worth $25-30 million last year even though he missed 1/3 of the season. His contract in 2025 was $6.33 million, he was a bargain. It’s $8.33 million this year, and as long as he returns healthy in July he should provide value again.
I wouldn’t say he is a waste of money. Not yet. But this happens to hard throwing pitchers. Think of Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard, Steve Strasburg just to name a few. Hopefully he can bounce back, but if not, thankfully the Reds have a deep pitching stable.
I just wonder why it seems more common now. Or maybe injuries weren’t as discussed in the 80s and 90s.
Velocity and spin are way up, which puts more strain on the arm. There are organizations such as driveline that the Reds used to employ, whose specialization is tweaking pitcher deliveries to increase those two items. Spin gives the pitches more break. So teams have been pushing the limits of what human arms can endure IMO.

I think the Reds need to think about bringing up Hinds for Benson soon.
I’d like Hinds up as well, but it’d be a tough getting rid of a lefty outfield bat. His defense last night was also great against the Rangers
