Reds team BA now .200. Recent call ups like Rece Hinds (0-10) have not helped as of yet. Hayes still “can’t buy a hit”. I wonder if any MLB team ever ended up w a team BA below .200?
Average team BA in MLB is .240-.245. Dodgers are at .270 at top end. If Reds were hitting .240 as a team that would add about 25 hits this season to date.
Despite this Reds have winning record due to good pitching and few timely homers to win a couple games.
Hayes has no business on a MLB roster .
If you are hoping for Ke’Bryan Hayes to suddenly become a power hitter, as a Pirates fan I have some bad news for you…
I don’t think anyone has that aspiration for him. He’s here for his defense but it would be nice if he provided replacement level offense.
Even that is probably aspirational.

Yeah Reds knew what they were getting in terms of hitting, and I think Mgt would be just fine with Haye’s elite defense and a .235 BA. But that is a long ways from .068 or so where he stands today.
P.S. make that .064 BA with a slugging average of……. .064.
To put that into perspective, he has 3 hits in 47 official at bats. If he hits .265 over his next 53 at bats, he’d have 17 hits in 100 at bats or a BA of .170.
I would just like hits, any hits. More than 3 hits.
Hayes-has a current WAR of -0.2. I presume that isn’t good. And that isn’t even the worst on the Reds. Reds current team WAR is -0.4. Only De La Cruz at 1.0 and Stewart at 1.1 are at 1.0 or above. Reds are not good at hitting.

He’s been above or within 0.4 of being replacement level offensively every year of his career.
Reds only get 4 hits but behind good pitching win again 2–1 as Suarez plays third and has two doubles. No errors by Reds, either.
P.S. Hayes brought in late as defensive replacement for Suarez.
Not only did Suarez hit, he made 2 outstanding defensive plays.

Suarez carried the load last night but the DH didn’t get a hit unfortunately.
Hayes gets the start at 3B today and just tore the cover off the ball! Another 0-3 performance, and he is now hitting .060. 3 hits in 50 AB. 1 run scored.
In spite of him, the Reds win 5-4 and move to 10-0 in games decided by 2 runs or less. 13-8 overall.
Reds actually had 11 hits today, led by Suarez again with a 2 for 4 day as the designated hitter. Red’s bullpen was outstanding again throwing 4 1/3 scoreless ball in the last innings as the Reds chipped away At a 4-2 Twins lead.
As Blues noted, Hayes was back in the line up at 3rd and was 0-3 to fall to a .060 BA for the year. In the top of the 9th, Speer pinch hit for Hayes and singled. He later scored what was to be the winning run in a 5-4 come from behind victory.
Reds in first place in their in division while sporting the worst team batting average in all of the MLB. 30th out of 30 MLB teams w BA of .203.
