DREDS suck as both a team and a organization. Stopped paying attention in the 90s and . I have not missed anything
Paddock should never pitch again for the Reds. Benson struck out 4 times. He has 6 runs batted in over 114 or so plate appearances. Why is he still on this roster?

Almost identical annual pay ($15 million) over the contract that Pirates gave Konnor Griffin.
Much riskier proposition for a young pitcher.
Could be a tremendous deal for the Reds if 1) he stays healthy and 2) can pitch anywhere close to what he has done this year.
Many are predicting that Paul Skenes could command $50 million per year when he reaches free agency in 2030. He might be able to average $25 million in his three arb years upcoming.
Skemes making just a little over $1 million with Pirates right now.
I hope his arm stays healthy as well as Chase’s.
Reds just cannot get out of their own way it seems and it is a shame. Hopefully they will eventually, though locking up Burns long term is a huge positive!
And glad to be back friends! Know have been off the forum for a long time now and it was down to a lot of pretty bad personal things but still followed the Hawks as much as I could. Also, I am now a science/social studies teacher in a middle school!
Got my credentials for that through a Master’s program at Utah State University. So somewhat follow the Aggies haha but no where even close as much as I follow the Hawks mind. No worries is what I am saying: If they ever play each other in sports, I will be wearing red all the way

Burns deal make’s Hunter Greene’s look like a bargain. Greene only getting $8.3 this year and then makes about the same as Burns the next two. He does have a club option for $21 mill in '29.
If the CBA with a salary floor of $171 million goes through the Reds would need to add about $20 milion in payroll. Steer and Bleday are probably candidates to try and buy out their last two arbirtation years as well if they don’t get moved at the trade deadline.

Would be surprised to see any big names move unless they get blown away with a talent return that is near major league ready. Ownership is in a win now mindset (however poor they may be at executing it) especially with potential CBA changes helping level the playing field. They absolutely should try to move their impending FA and players with options for 2027. With expanded playoffs it’s a sellers market but the return might not be very impactful at least not in the near future.
Singer, Ferguson, Burke, Johnson and Pagan would all help a contending club. Stephenson and Suarez are the only bats that fit that mold. Stephenson has long been considered a less than stellar defensive catcher but his adeptness at ABS probably evens out his inability to frame pitches.
Steer could probably fetch a decent return but his value to the club if they want to win now probably is greater. Guys like Friedl and McLain could find new homes but the return would be so little it’s probably better to see if there’s anything that can be done to improve them. It would be unbelievable if they could unload Hayes.
Sal Stewart needs to get his average up a bit, but there is no doubt, that after Elly, he is the Reds best position player, and one of the best young talents in all of MLB.

Sal Stewart is currently 4th in the major leagues in RBIs with 74, 18th in HR with 21, 18th in total bases, and 11th in doubles. To me, despite all the JJ Wetherholt talk, Sal Stewart is hands down the best rookie in the NL.

I really thought the Reds would turn the corner after last year. But we are 7 under and it’s basically August and we are heading toward the 70 something mediocrity /gravitational vortex of suck. Very hard to escape it. Oh well. Almost football time.

Good observation but in the grand scheme of things, we are about where I thought we would be. I am more intrigued by how we are going to handle this trade deadline.
On a side note:
My brother and I will be in Cincy for the A’s series, if anyone else is going, let me know!
Remember when the A’s and Reds were great? That feels like a million years ago.
