Well, the Reds team BA was bad last year, and so far it’s bad again this year. The good news is that the pitching and is great and so far there’s enough timely hitting to win games.
Having Stewart in the middle of the order is paying dividends if he can keep it up. Can McLain and Steer find their old form? Let’s hope so…
I commented yesterday, I would seriously consider bringing up Rece Hinds soon for Benson.
I’d bring him up for Marte.
Francona has mentioned Marte has opposite splits over his career (he’s better vs RHP than LHP) but yet he has 9 PA vs LHP this year with a negative-100 wRC+ and only 5 PA vs RHP but has a crazy good 195 wRC+.
If Tito is not going to play him vs RHP, send him down and get Hinds up so Hinds can start vs LHP where he’d be way more productive than Marte.

Well we both agree Hinds should be on the big league club. Just a disagreement on who he should replace. Benson has always been a feast or famine guy. Either hits HR or strikeout. I’m not a great fan of that, especially given Benson’s HR totals.

If they sent Marte down before the weekend it would be consecutive years of giving away a bobblehead of a player not on the team lol (CES last year)

Well, that’s a good start, especially if Friedl (3-30 coming in) got one of them!
Pitching again carries the day in 2-0 win. Quite a stretch of peerless pitching!

Friedl is playing like he faked his birth certificate and is not 30 but actually 35. Both his sprint speed and bat speed have dropped drastically from last season.
Yes, saw a recent reference in a sports blog as to his loss of a step and less than stellar D in conjunction with no bat. Bad combo.
OK. “Curiosity got the cat” here as I forced myself to look it up. Down from the previous .209 to .205 so you are looking at an entire team BA almost below the “Mendoza” line. Pretty pathetic.
