RedHawks @ Broncos final regular season series

We were not going to fire the women’s basketball coach after 4 straight years of losing and not making the tournament, although she was eventually forced to resign for other reasons. Previous to that Saylor had twice fired a women’s coach after 4 years on a 5 year contract. So you have to think it was because his budget could not afford it. Based on that, Bergeron may well get another year.

Mike Davis totally agrees with you. If you make to the national championship at program A you will be certain to be successful at program B. He’s unemployed now, but maybe that’s an inconsequential detail.

The guy has been ridiculously successful at every team he’s coached. Why assume he’ll fail at a place with unlimited resources?

I’m not wishing for him to fail. I know nothing about him nor hold any ill will against him. The post I replied to was about fans never being satisfied and the idea that Alabama will run off another run like Saban had is what I referenced. Even if he’s like John Cooper the second at OSU and finishes top 5 unless he wins it all the fans will hate him. It’s the opposite end of the universe our hockey program is in. We get back to a top 25 finish the partying will be nonstop in the 513.

Summation: fans don’t appreciate what they have in many places where winning happens.

20-21: Tied for 7th place
21-22: 1 point out of 7th place
22-23: 11 points out of 7th place
23-24: 20 points out of 7th place

Not only is this wretched, but it’s trending towards greater depths of wretchedness. Swing the axe…pull the plug…club the baby seal.

Even Miami hockey fans have been guilty of that. I remember the Fire Rico comments in 2012 and 2013 when the RedHawks were still regularly in the top 10.

Well said. We are not immune. All fans go this way. They take things for granted. At the end of The Charlie Coles basketball regime I was like “time for someone new” and I doubt I was alone in that regard. Yet, in retrospect, we could have prolly been better with him than the new regime that came in after.

I wonder who could be signing pro contracts this time next week

Speaking of Rico…

Rico still has the magic touch late in games!

St. Thomas #46 in the current Pairwise ratings in CHN.3/11/24.
Miami, #47
After 3-5 years……

I mean they are still a top team in their conference. They were #1 for a bit and they finished out at #2. Even though they’re next to us in pairwise that’s a wayy better position than 20 points out of second to last place. It’s not like they can control how good or bad the rest of their conference is. What can they do? Schedule tougher non conference opponents and hope for the best?

Pairwise compensates for schedule strength this is an illustration of that.

Yeah I’m just saying it’s not Rico’s fault their pairwise is bad. They did the best they could with the schedule they had. They opened the season by beating #8 SCSU and still played enough bad teams to even it out

Hope both St.Thomas and Miami move up next season and beyond.

Hey one of those two teams is still eligible for a national title this year :joy:

That’s not entirely true. They finished with a conference record barely above .500 (12-11-1). They were only able to win three games over the final 13 to close out the season.

The best they could do with that schedule is to win a lot more conference games.

Not sure where to post this as I’m not one to start new threads, but BUGS just whacked Ty Eigner who has a (much) better record than Bergeron.

Back to lurking.

He also had the whole Austin Swankler/hazing scandal. Maybe BG will take Berge back
