These games didn’t matter really at all. Sure it would’ve been nice to have some momentum but maybe this loss made them angry enough to play hungry against NODAK next week. They sure seemed angry at the end of the game

What’s everybody’s thoughts if they’ll move on from Berg next week, or let him finish out his remaining 1 year on his contract?

You really think theyll cough up the cash?? Over 300k for the buyout when our AD/staff are constantly complaining how expensive everything is especially when it comes to hockey and traveling and stuff??
I think we are too cheap to let him go. Let him stay one more year finish out his contract. Can’t really get much worse than this- only way to go is up and he could surprise us. Plus apparently the guys like him

It’s going to be absolutely incredible next week when I can post “7 wins and we’re national champions” after we upset nodak Friday night!
I think it helps that Miamis spring break isn’t until the week after the frozen faceoff. Not tryna start any conspiracy theories or anything but I found it quite convenient that after a ridiculously poor effort in the second quarterfinals game last year 75% of the team ended up together in Mexico (or wherever) 5 days later. I’m not a travel expert but I feel like it should take more than 5 days to organize a trip for 15+ people to a popular vacation spot at one of the busiest times of the year. I don’t think this years team would lose on purpose though they seem to have more grit.
I don’t seriously think last years team lost on purpose but it’s way easier to lose knowing you’ll be on the beach next week than have the motivation to win knowing you’ll have to cancel your trip to go to St Paul instead. More of a subconscious mentality thing.
On the other hand North Dakota’s spring break was last week so they should have plenty of students there to watch their team get swept by 1-22-2 8th place miami!!
Next week is when the fish or cut bait hour arrives. Every recruit knows that a coach going into his final year with no extension is a lame duck who is going to be fired. Not pulling the plug right now would handicap the next Miami coach for at least three seasons.

Im curious if that is important with the transfer portal nowadays. I would think if Berg gets another year then freshman recruiting will stink but those guys will all transfer if he gets fired anyways
And a new coach is gonna want his own team too
So I am really not worried about lame duck year for recruiting like maybe I would have been 10 years ago

I mean we’ve already lost one recruit that had signed his NLI for Miami and was announced on our social media to another NCHC team and this is before any news on bergeron
If our football coach won 1 single game out of 24 MAC matchups, would he be retained? Absolutely not!
Bergeron should be relieved of his duties in the next 7-14 days. Don’t get me wrong, I wish it had worked out. I was a huge fan of the hire. Sometimes things just don’t work out.

Right. We are going to lose basically everyone on the roster who has options once we make a coaching change. I am not arguing that Berge deserves to be retained- I am just saying that no matter when we make a change the entire roster is changing

It’s amazing how winning makes certain fan bases entitled or think it can’t ever change…Bama about to find this out in football when they fall out of the top 20

Sure. You betcha. The only coach who could win there -with all the resources they have now - is Darth Saban. Right. DeBoer isn’t any good. He just took Washington to the Natty game in his second year there - and coming off a 4-8 record the year before he got there…

Nodak fans are really the worst. What more do they want??? Miami has the chance to do the funniest thing ever next week and I can’t wait to read all about what their fans have to say about getting eliminated by Miami 
On the other hand if we get eliminated I’m gonna bandwagon a team like Omaha or CC. They have had to fight for everything they’ve gotten and are both having quite special seasons. If in the next couple years we get ourselves right and turn the ship around I think we are gonna look like they look right now. Like we aren’t gonna look like Denver or Nodak and just be at the top of the standings because we win and winning is just what we do we are gonna have to fight and claw and scratch our way up the rankings. I’m just gonna pretend I’m glancing into our future while rooting for them over some of the more nasty teams of the NCHC
But hopefully I can just root for Miami!

I guess the portal is different now and makes it easier to leave
