I think if you gave many anti-G5 commentators a truth serum they’d admit their outward bias is from their professional status. If your career depends on being a Big Ten/SEC homer you’re gonna be tempted to go against your principles, especially since many reporters and talking heads come from power conference backgrounds.
Or if your career depends on riding upon soundbites for clicks you say crazy stuff as a matter of business.
I think more and more this is the way all channels (even news) operate.
Both you and Love_and_Honor are right. It’s business, it’s not personal. These guys are greedy bastards. They won’t be satisfied until they have virtually all of the revenue available under their control.
But I am old school. A Darrell Hedric guy. You know–the old dog new trick thing. But, it’s really always been that way for 50+ years. I have seen us have to scratch for everything we were able to get or achieve. Nothing was given to us–except Ron Harper.

I’m no lawyer but the G5 should sue on anti trust basis. It’s complete bs that specific conferences can get AQs especially a conference like the ACC which is no better than most G5 conferences

RGIII the only media member with common sense
Ugh right message, wrong messenger. RG3 is a weirdo
Unfortunately, what is happening this bowl season is proving the haters right. It is becoming more evident each game that the top 15% of the G6 can not compete with the top 15% of the P4. Tulane was slaughtered again by Ole Miss. As I write this JMU trails Oregon 34-3 midway through the second quarter at Eugene. In the other P4 vs G6 games, Washington crushed Boise and NC State rolled Memphis. There are still several more P4 vs G6 games left but the die seems to have been cast..
Bloated budgets for NIL and the harvesting of stars from successful G6 teams has completely altered the landscape of FBS football. In my opinion, the G6 definitely needs to decouple from the CFP and create its own national championship playoff.
Agreed
Yep really bad tonight
Thank God Miami didn’t end up the top rated G6 conference champion this year. The money would have been nice but the humiliation would be unappreciated.
One thing I noticed today was so many times after a play I’d hear “the transfer from insert G5/FCS school”. It’s clear the G5 and FCS are just being used to develop talent for the P4
Call me crazy, but I think Miami football gets more interesting if/when a G6 + top tier FCS division and playoff is created.
Right now, the MAC is our whole deal. In a newly imagined world we can actually talk about winning a national championship. Our aspirations get bigger.
Tulane at least scored a TD, though?
So has JMU
I heard Wischusen say Oregon had 85 four and five star athletes on its roster. An All Star G6 team comprised from players from all 68 G6 teams wouldn’t have that many.
There are probably 20-30 P4 schools that will never have as much talent as any of the 10 P4 teams in this playoff..
Yeah, and you see that in basketball too. It’s near impossible to build a nationally competitive team without being able to benefit from an experienced roster. Doesn’t help that the best (and wealthiest) universities from now-power conferences have also been poached by the larger ones.
RGIII’s list of P4 blowouts is impressive..
