I did not get to watch today but being down 8 at half and winning on the road is a very good sign.
Kent was 10-0 when leading at the half before today.
Kent was ready to play and then some in the 1st half, not surprisingly after their loss the other night. Their intensity level at the 2nd half wasnāt even close to their 1st half level. Defensively, we didnāt force many turnovers, but we had them in spots we wanted them. We were still letting Medley shoot, but we were up on him a little more, making him feel uncomfortable. We were forcing Bekelja into tough 2s. And after messing up the rotation on the double team in the 1st half, we got it right in the 2nd, so they didnāt get as many easy baskets in the post.
Offensively, one thing we can take away from this game is the ball has to move quicker. When we get the ball, you need to make a downhill move to the basket or give it up and keep the ball moving. They did a good job collapsing on Suder. Overall, we dribbled too much side-to-side, more so in the 1st half. This improved in the 2nd.
Tonight we got really strong performances from Elmer-Cooper-Wolfolk-Byers and an underrated performance from Suder (a lot of rebounds and assists)
What a great start to the second half
This team is so much fun to watch, and they play hard. Such an upgrade over last year. The team last year was a joke and would have folded like a cheap suit at the first sign of trouble.
Wolfolk >> Morris
Wolfolk > Anderson
Craft >> Mabry
Craft >> Lewis
Suder > Bultman
Byers >> Dean
We need more out of Kotecki. Not sure what happened this year but it seems like he has regressed.
I guess I get the Kotecki love, but where/when is he going to play? I feel like heās reached his potential and will remain a ninth or tenth guy as needed. Next year a new āFab Fiveā arrives and his time will get reduced even more. Heās an interesting dude and seems to have a lot of interests beside hoops. Heās a great guy to have on a team and will contribute in other ways than being on the court. When called on, he will contribute rebounds and sometimes points. He will have great memories of being a āfounding memberā of the rebirth of Miami bball.
His interviews tend to be the same, but he does like this team!

Chet Mason gave the team a nice talk after the game. Itās available for viewing.
Yeah itās tough because we generally only play one big at a time and heās clearly behind Woolfolk and Potter. He did show flashes last year, but given Miamiās style of play itās hard to find minutes for him right now.
Not underrated by everybody as Bake and Terry picked him for player of the game. Only 8 points but 9 rebounds and 5 assists. He is so tough and so competitive, I think he brings a lot of confidence and drive to our guys.
Can we get Travis Steele an extension now and a pay raise? This is the most fun Miami bball has been in years
Pay the man, too!
Miami is up to 127 NET, Akron 111.
If both teams win during the week the game on Saturday could be to get into top 100 in NET
According to our AI Grok overlords, Miami has started 5-0 in MAC play 3 times: 91-92, 05-06, and 24-25. The RedHawks have never started 6-0. If we beat 7-10 (2-3) Bowling Green in Oxford this week, it will be the best MAC start ever by Miami.
I didnāt fact check this fact, but if the machines say its true, it must be.
After a quick factcheck we did not start 5-0 in 91/92, but we did in 05/06 unless thereās any other season we started 6-0 the BG game would be for the best start ever
I have properly shamed Grok:
Apologies for the confusion. Youāre correct; upon further review of the available information, Miami (Ohio) did not start 5-0 in the MAC in the 1991-1992 season. The correct list for when they started 5-0 in MAC play should be:
2005-2006
2024-2025
Thus, the 1991-1992 season should not have been included.
I think youād have to go back pre MAC to find a 6-0 start. I believe we did it once with George Rider.
Granted, we only played like 6 games that year.
(Thatās why they called him George āEasyā Rider) and he only lasted two years. People thought the schedule was too soft.

These posts got me curious about the amazing overachieving team of my freshman year, so I looked it up. They won the last 13 regular season games before losing to Marquette in the NCAA. Darrell Hedricās first season as head coach.
I believe this is wrong. Miami started the 05-06 season 6-0. There was a MAC game in the middle of the non-conference schedule Miami won, played a few more games, then won 5 straight when the conference schedule resumed.
