Different team in the second half today. Great defensive adjustments. (And Kent with horrid shooting.) Love the emergence of Byers. And Cooper was really efficient. Excellent road win - especially w Craft having an off day.

And good to see RedSea in the front row.

Man Brant Byers is good. Cooper (who Iā€™ve been rough on) was awful in the first half, but huge in the second half. Kudos to that kid. Didnā€™t think he had it in him. Elmer is just steady. And his defense is top notch. Woolfolk could be a double digit scorer if he could just stay on the court.

Defensively we packed it in way better in the second half. Made them shoot over top of us. Kent really canā€™t shoot.

Won a road game where Craft and Suder didnā€™t score double digits and we really didnā€™t have a good shooting day from three overall. Impressive in spite of the fact that Kent is a pretty flawed team. Especially on offense.

The first 4 minutes of the 2nd half can often determine how the rest of the game will go. I couldnā€™t have been more impressed with how we came out in the 2nd half. That was really impressive. Offensively, we played with good tempo, but not too fast. Defensively, we locked them down and made them take the shots we wanted them to take.

Offensively, Elmer started it, Byers put us over the top and Cooper finished it. In the 1st half, their ballhandlers outplayed ours but that was reversed in the 2nd half.

We overcame a lot of BS officiating in the 1st half. The officials were lucky that halftime came when it did because thatā€™s the only reason why they got control of the game back. The technical on Elmer was ridiculous. The Kent St. bench needed to sit down. The Kent St. gym bad juju seemed to be working against us.

But we played with a lot of maturity and determination in the 2nd half and thatā€™s a great sign for the rest of the year. We canā€™t sleep on BG. They had Akron beat earlier this year but let them off the hook. Just a great win today.

I watched the first half, but then had to go out to dinner.
Me and Mrs. Nopper dined with good friends (a couple)ā€¦ he went to BG.
I pulled out my phone to check what I expected to be a double-digit loss.
Imagine my happy surprise!
He saw the look on my face, and immediately and passed on his congrats!
He doesnā€™t like Kent, either.
